Cons: "The Manila airport is a mess! Everyone tells you something different. No one seems to know where to send you. I've never in my life had to exit an airport on a layover to re-enter again and go through the entire check-in process from scratch. There are no signs anywhere that tell you you will have to go through security a SECOND time once you're at the gate. I'm diabetic and need to have water on me at all times. I can't get dehydrated. I had no clue I woudn't be able to take the bottles of water I PURCHASED AT THE AIRPORT!!! with me on the plane. I've never experienced that in all my years of flying. No other airline or airport has ever made you throw out the water that you purchased at the airport. So I wasted my money there. PLUS, the only vendor that had any sort of appetizing food that I could eat as a diabetic was a cash only vendor. They took USD, great, but they were using a conversion chart from May 2017 (I was flying in March 2018) so the exchange rate was in THEIR favor. And they won't give you USD in change. They give you Philippine money in change. So I get screwed on the exchange rate on BOTH sides of the transaction. Plus, what am I going to do with Philippine money when I'm only in the airport for a layover??? So I'm going to lose money again to change it back to USD once I get home. Archaic. We are living in the 21st century. This shouldn't happen. The plane was sooooo uncomfortable for a 13 hour flight. The entertainment system at my seat wasn't working so I had to be moved once we were in the air. The new seat was so worn in, there was virtually no padding underneath my saecrum (butt bone) for the 13 hours. No foot rest, either. And the temperature in the plane fluxuated the whole time between hot and cold (although mostly hot). You should take some lessons from Singapore Airlines.....so much more comfortable in ALL aspects."

How can an international airline company allow themselves to be treated like that? In-flight entertainment: limited movie selection, even more limited tv shows selection. Music section was very poor, it needs more selection with variaty, known artists, more radio channels. And music tracks should be in a tracklist form with song information, not only 1 hour-long tracks of back to back music (with no info). Meals - Mains were ok, deserts were terrible in both of my flights. Snacks were also bad, a scone and beef and cheese sandwich. Very blend, white bread only and oily. We weren't served enough bevarages, so oily and high-carb foods made me very thursty. No water fountains, it'd be great to have some around since staff does not give enough beverage and I was forced to chuck my water before boarding the airplane (the water I bought in the airport after passport check!!!!!!!) It was extremely cold."

Pros: "This was my first time flying with PAL. I had read the reviews mostly good, some not so good but I decided to do it because I was going to meet my fiancee. Flew from LA to Manila and back. The flights took off late (which I later found out is called Filipino time LOL). The crew was AWESOME, the only problem was on the return flight I had some trouble getting a stewardess but to be fair EVERYBODY was hitting the bells to get service. The food was good and I liked the choices. I would DEFINITELY fly PAL again!!!!!"

Cons: "This airline has been terrible to deal with. Before departing, they cancelled one leg of our trip, then waited a full month to rebook (only after weekly, sometimes more often, calls from us). We actually weren't sure if the flight was actually rebooked until we arrived at the airport and were able to check in. The food on all the flights was terrible. Dealing with customer service on the ground at the Manila airport was also terrible - they just kept saying they had to ask someone else who had to ask someone else, then changed the subject and did the same thing with an unrelated question until we got so fed up we left. It took 40 minutes for a bus to come to transfer us from terminal 1 to 2."

Cons: "More often than not, Philippine Airlines has been our airline of choice because we found their rates to be fair and flights direct and easy. Despite the fact that the PAL terminal was pretty poor, and the food on board was never really decent, we remained loyal to PAL for quite a few years. On our way back to Melbourne from Manila on June 17, Saturday, Colin, Hendrix and I were awaiting boarding at gate 10 for flight PR 209. Having flown with PAL from Melbourne to Manila (as well as with another airline from Manila to Manchester and back), we understood that the usual procedure was to allow passengers with infants to board first. Due to the lack of order (there were no clear queues in sight), Colin decided to ask 3 different PAL personnel if there was, indeed, a priority queue for people travelling with infants. ALL THREE PERSONNEL ASSURED US THAT THEY WERE NOT YET BOARDING AND THAT WE WOULD BE CALLED UPON PRIOR TO THEM LETTING ANYONE ELSE ON THE PLANE. 2 minutes later, a PAL personnel appears with signage that reads certain row numbers and begins to call out to ALL PASSENGERS FOR BOARDING. Colin swiftly rushes to the front (me and baby in tow) and demands an explanation as to why we were told one thing but are watching them act upon something completely different. I wish I was joking when I tell you that the personnel just stared blankly at us and then carried on checking boarding passes. No apologies, no explanation offered. As soon as we boarded, Colin turned to the first flight steward he saw and asked for a complaint form and told this could ONLY be done online, to which Colin requested we be given the email/web address upon take off. The seats assigned to us were on the right most side of the aircraft, a window and a middle seat. As Colin was placing our bags in the overhead compartment, the steward called to Colin from across the aisle (past the 3 seats in the middle of the plane) to introduce the purser, Jolly Bello. Please note this was happening while people were also trying to get past and get to their seats -and Mr. bello called out across the aisle, "I heard you have a complaint??" to which Colin, baffled, replied "yes do you want to come over here so we aren’t shouting over these people?". Colin yet again told this purser what the complaint was about and was asked (verbatim) "so would you like to make a complaint against THEM?" Would the correct protocol not be to 1. Apologise for any confusion, miscommunication or poor service, 2. Take some responsibility and acknowledge the complaint and 3. Maybe come approach us AFTER TAKE OFF and not while everyone is trying to board the plane? We are no longer choosing Philippine Airlines."

Cons: "Flight delayed for 5 hours - Connection from Manila was going to be very close. Flight attendant assured me multiple times they would hold the connecting plane, and give us an escort off the plane to make it to the other gate as fast as possible. We arrive in Manila, and there is no special escort. They take us at a regular pace to a connections desk in the terminal. They delayed helping us so we missed the only other flight leaving that night for Bali. While the person at the transfer desk was supposed to be helping us get new connecting flights, they would stop helping us, and take care of other people that showed up at the desk. It took them 1 1/2 hours to rebook our flight. They tried to put us on a flight that took over 20 hours with connections for a direct flight we had missed that would take about 4 hours of flying. We had to get on Kayak.com ourselves to find a better connecting flight that left the next morning. After 1 1/2 hours, the attendant finally put on a flight that was similar to the one we found but slightly worse. They said they could not work with certain airlines leaving from Manila, which I did not understand. Then, they proceed to tell us to go wait in the terminal overnight for the flight leaving the next day. We had to directly ask them to give us a hotel room for the night, which they did upon our request, but were not going to offer it without us asking for it. I understand delays and missed flights are part of air travel. But we were routinely lied to, ignored, and flat out pushed aside during the rebooking process. It was a completely unacceptable way to treat a customer. Never fly Philippine Airlines if you can avoid it."

Checked-in online to speed things up, but the ladies at the "Online check-in counter" was not there, and when they turned up, there were in training. Then the boarding gates/lounge. None of the restaurants accepted credit or debit cards (?). It's an international airport!?! Unbelievable. Once boarded, realised none of the seats had screens or any onboard entertainment unless you had downloaded the myPal app. It would have been handy if the check-in staff informed us of this. Then there were flight delays, with no explanation. No screens with any live updates. Nothing. Worst terminal on planet earth! Now the plane. It must be a plane bought from another airline who completed their 30 year lease of the aircraft, because it looked like from the 1980's or older. Falling apart, uncomfortable, toilets not working, dirty, run down. The air-crew were lazy and rude and were inconsistent. One would say they ran out of something, then the person next to me would ask another crew, and received what they requested (food, assistance, pens, etc). Horrible. The pilots rarely informed us of the flight updates. Just utterly horrible! I cannot believe I have to fly with them on my return leg back home :("

My checked bag was ripped open somewhere in the process of being transported!! I don’t think I will fly this carrier ever again!"

The charge was about $150, for the same luggage I brought with me for free on two prior international flights that were part of the same trip, on much better airlines for about the same ticket price. I could have tolerated a charge of $50, but I found $150 to be outrageous. Seats were narrow, legs hit the back of the seat in front. No need for such a configuration, since the flight was only 1/3 full. I won't fly Cebu Pacific again. Congratulations, you lost my business."

Cons: "The flight was on time. The food was disgusting. Ordered chicken adobo and it came in a form that I guess even a dog won’t eat it! Even my cat food looks much better, and it has the sauce. Their adobo missed the... adobo sauce. Flew twice with them but nah. Not gonna do it again. And I’ve got more than 10 low cost companies. Cebu too. And all European low costs. Cebu, is much much better than airasia. At least their food is delicious and you have enough space."

Cons: "Flight was delayed due to no fault of Air Asia, however, the passengers were not being informed of said delays, that many passengers started to flock to the boarding gate thinking the flight is about to board. Resulting to people standing around, due to lack of seats in the boarding area and making people who were probably happily seated at the other parts of the airport lose their seats as they anticipated boarding. I found out about the delay through my Kayak App and it took a long while before Air Asia made announcements. The flight was delayed about 3 hours."

There was no overhead room for our carry-on luggage and no one was very helpful about it. Other passengers around us had the same issue with the carry-on luggage."

We were supposed to land in Kalibo at 6.40pm, and didn't arrive until 1.15am!! The even more annoying thing is that i paid double the cost of the evening flight to arrive at our original time, I should have just taken the ferry at least then we could have enjoyed the near 12hour journey it took us to travel less than hour hour in the plane!! Poor piece of food whilst waiting 9 hours also!!"

Pros: "Getting to my Destination"
Cons: "Flight was delayed 4 hours they said due to congestion, however at least 4 other flights left before us going to Hong Kong that were not delayed. The staff at the counter lined everyone up to board only to hand out free water and cake send us back to our seats. The plane wasn't even there yet. Everyone was very confused and upset. After finally boarding the plane it was dirty. Tray table wad really sticky and there was a used cup in my seat I had to remove before sitting. Also my seat did not recline so I was very uncomfortable with small amount of leg room. The flight was supposed to land in Hong Kong at 7:15 by the time we got to hotel it was 1:30am. It's a shame I had to pay for the whole night at the Hotel."

Cons: "flight schedule was a disaster. from 230pm-545pm-730pm and finally departs 10pm. due to cancelled flights and delays, there's only one boat travelling from caticlan to boracay. we reach the hotel around 5am. same thing when we fly back 430 hours delay. I'm not going to book airasia anymore and tell my friends not to book airasia."

Cons: "Hey I know its the Philippines, I've been here many times, but ALL of the Air Asia flights were delayed, ours 2 hours...we flew Air Asia to Kalibo last week, delayed 4 hours. But Cebu Pacific flights were all delayed too. Just prepare for long waits at waiting area. Ferry boats are often cancelled or delayed too, its just the way it is here in the PI."
Pros: "The bad started at the ticket counter where I received a $135 baggage fee. There website is specifically constructed to hide baggage allowances. The flight was approximately two hours later commuting due to "late turns on previous sectors." Updates were not provided so you had to sit for hours in the gate listening to constant gate calls for other flights. There is essentially no restaurants on the concourse. Inflight meals were all pay as you go. I was not asked if I wanted a meek, I guess because I wasn't Filipino. Filipinos around me were offered meals. Never again!"

I tried to call Air Asia, and they sent me to airport lost and found. Airport lost and found sends me to Air Asia,........... after about 10 times of doing that I finally got an Air Asia rep on the phone to take me seriously. But she didn't see too concerned or interested in finding my phone for me. I told her to check the plane, and contact me if they found it or not....... NO reply! So I called back the day after, and again, got the run around...... Now, this second assistant I told the same thing. No communications or customer care with this airline. I worked for the airlines for 14 years, and I could check a plane for a cell phone in about 10 minutes, and get back to you... Air Asia that's like pulling hens teeth!"

My card said, my purchased went through successfully but air Asia at Manila airport didn't understand that! My parents went home straight front the airport frustrated!! So I had to purchased another plane tickets with anothe airline, and now they're enjoying Macau and Hong Kong!! I will not give you my business ever again and my whole family. :( P.s I even got a flight reminder email on 1/22/16 and their flight with you was supposedly yesterday 1/28/16. -not a happy customer-"
Cons: "THERE IS NO FREE CHECK BAGS, I HAD TO PAY FOR 2 CHECKED BAGS BECAUSE THEY SAID THEY ARE TOO BIG TO BE CARRY ON. NO FREE BEVERAGE OR SNACKS FOR THE FLIGHT AND EVEN WHEN I ASKED FOR HOT WATER FOR MY BABIES MILK, THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE SOMETHING FIRST BEFORE GIVING ME HOT WATER! WHEN I ASKED TO BORROW A PEN THEY ALSO WANTED ME TO PAY FOR THE PEN! MOST RIDICULOUS AIRLINE I HAVE EVER RODE IN. NEVER AGAIN."

Cons: "Dirty plane (probably not out of commission long enough to be cleaned), and the CONSTANT baggage fees. For MOST airlines, when you buy a ticket, you get at least *1* checked bag. For AA/Z? 0. Not only that, but when you pay the "I'd like to check a bag fee", the allowance that you get is small, and the per Kg rate over it is exorbitant. More truth in advertising their rates would certainly be appreciated. Also, there are size, and WEIGHT limits for your carry-on. For those of you thinking that you could just pack it all into a carry-on, and beat the system."
Pros: "I got a call a few weeks ahead to say my flight time had been changed to a half hour ahead of schedule. That was nice for a heads up."
Cons: "However, it's a good thing we arrived at the airport 4 hours in advance (had nothing else to do...) because our flight was actually 2 hours ahead of schedule. Also, we sat on the tarmac for an hour. This was to be expected though, because it's manila."
