Long wait to pick up rental vehicle. Was charged for services without explanation. Was charged for a service at a higher rate than quoted. Routes Customer Care is not run efficiently. No response to multiple emails, and forced to wait on hold for 45 minutes before being connected with a representative. The representative then advised that an email would be sent within 5 minutes that explained the changes. I would then have to follow up via email. After 3 hours, I’m still waiting to receive that email from Routes. Will not use Routes again.

Horrible experience. They never included in the rental agreement that I would have a $500 deposit, and they tried to charge my card so many times that it blocked it. It was very smelly and I was charged for going to Wisconsin because my grandfather was dying and they charged me a large fee. That was never on the reservation and they said I would get it at the airport but I was forced to take a bus to the rental.

For the Florida rental (not Colorado), the extra $38/day for insurance coverage made us not rent the car and take a Lyft instead.

Great rental (clean, low mileage, low price, super comfortable) and easy transfer from DEN; shuttle drivers were great and so were the folks behind the counter. Only improvement: move returned cars forward so the shuttle is able to turn into the lot and quickly drop and pick us without getting stuck

Price gouging at its finest. Refused to let me use my own insurance without charging a fee. Refused to let me use the credit card insurance that covers the rental. Terrible experience and would not recommend to anyone. Insisted I needed to pay $40 per day for their basic insurance. If I wanted to use my own insurance they would have charged me $120 verification fee.

This rental company is a complete scam and will try to gouge as much out of you as criminally possible. The workers there have negative zero business ethics and will hold you hostage because you are on vacation and lie their way into forcing you to pay what they want it’s a classic switch and bait except they do it in your face and have no shame about it. They will not take your full coverage car insurance or primary credit card rental car coverage and force you to buy their car insurance at starting 30 dollar a day up to over 100 or else you won’t get your rental car that you already paid for!!! Check BBB for their complaints, they have a F rating!!!! Don’t believe the Google or Expedia rating they are manipulated. Yelp or trip adviser have many similar complaints than what I went thru. Don’t think you are the exception they will get you!!! Don’t rent from them you will end up spending more money, rent from Costco or airport onsite pick up. I refused to give into their scam and uber to another rental company which I paid REGULAR market fee for my rental. I like deals but no free lunch. Routes rental fee is way below market that’s how they get you. Also they only rent to vacationers not locals to take advantage of families on schedule and less likely to challenge them. I reported them to BBB they need to be investigated and shut down for criminal business tactics

You video chat in a booth with an agent (seems like a third world country), hard to hear everything. I went from one rate to paying 6 times the amount in less than 24 hrs and probably 20 miles of commuting. Thank goodness I did no add one!! When returning the vehicle, you must wait for the shuttle driver to inspect the vehicle, He has just left to the airport, so had to wait for the 1 driver to return 20 minutes later. There are 2 other guys that work the desk, but they are working for about 6-8 other rental companies. The vehicle was newer, but smelled of cigarettes. Just go with a reputable company, and pay a slightly higher rate for assurance and smoother transaction. Also beware! They will put a charge on your CREDIT card that ranges from 500-1000 (refundable if criterias met) before you can get your vehicle.
