Europcar charged me for a scrap mark on a tire. 220$ charge. The tire is perfectly functional and I showed the guy an image of the scrape pre-existing my rental from images I took before I accepted the car. He ignored them and told me to appeal. I know full well they just wanted more money from me and assumed I wouldn't do anything because I had to travel the same day. I will never use this company again or recommend them to anyone. Horrible company. And to add fuel to the fire they charged a surprise insurance fee of 1700$ at checkout when I picked up the car. They dont disclose this to you when you make a booking on Kayak.

Not advertised that the cars are about a 10-15 minute drive away with a shuttle that only foes a pickup approximately every 30 minutes. We did not get to our car until 51 minutes after getting to the agency office. The office itself has one broken chair and one functioning chair, so expect to stand for some time! Everything was explained well, though the car we got was a little but of a downgrade and the check out agent was hesitant to mark down scratches on the car. Returning the car took time as well as the agents don’t have a clear line and prioritize people departing over returning. I am disappointed that this company also rents Chinese cars. Would use this business again if I had a lot of time to spare and the price was lower than their competitors.

Make the pickup of the hire car quicker. I was stood in a queue for over an hour. Make sure the car is clean. The rental car had food crumbs everywhere

At first was given a polo wolks, was a very poor car. asked for another car and they didnt have. Magic, ended up with an A1 audi 2026. Car was fantastic but unfortunate that I hate to push hard to change the car

I was forced into a scam at the Europcar Quito Airport counter. Upon arrival, Europcar refused to honor my prepaid voucher. The counter agent explicitly stated that the rate was a special price that did not cover the minimum requirements to take the car. They refused to release the vehicle unless I paid an extra $589.03 for mandatory local liability insurance and coverages, despite my credit card covering collision and liability. Stranded at the airport with no alternative, I was forced under duress to pay the additional $589.03 just to get the keys for a vehicle I had already paid for. Withholding a prepaid rental to force customers into paying double at the counter is extortion and a total breach of contract. Kayak is actively routing customers to rental providers that engage in predatory practices and refuse to honor prepaid bookings. I have already initiated a credit card dispute and demand a full refund for the forced charges.

Terrible experience with Europcar Italy. Car broke down with a serious gearbox fault — unsafe to drive — and we were stranded with my family for over 4 hours waiting for a replacement. When I complained, customer service falsely claimed it was just an “air conditioning issue,” despite my video evidence proving otherwise, and refused to compensate for the time lost. They also buried a €39.68 “Family Pack” charge in the paperwork without ever explaining what it was, then refused to remove it. A wrongly applied fuel charge was only refunded after I provided my own proof. Dishonest, unhelpful, and not worth the risk. Avoid.
