Picked up the car at West Hollywood Hertz; the young lady seemed less than enthused and the car was NOT clean. We had to clean the car in the parking lot before we drove off. She did not offer help or question what we were doing. She was not polite nor did she show any interest in being helpful. If this is the only Hertz near LAX, I will not rent from Hertz!

Emeka was very polite and helpful. I certainly appreciate it. I rented a cargo van, which may not be cleaned the same as a passenger car. The steering wheel and controls were dirty and I had to clean them, and cleaned the seats at the same time. The van had been driven about 23,000 miles but drove well and there were no problems. I returned late and was able to park the van and drop the key - a big help.

Customer service was awful. They led to me to believe several things about the process of renting a vehicle and made it very difficult for me to extend my vehicle rental and so I decided to go with someone else after.

The check-out and check-in process was horrendous and confusing. Hertz customer service is the worst. If it weren't for the savings and the fantastic car we rented for two weeks, I would say it wasn't worth it. But, because the car itself was great and the cost was on point, I am okay with the crappy check-in and check-out procedure and the awful Hertz customer service.

Car had many ‘details’ at pickup. Little marks and scratches. About 17 items worth. They were listed by an employee and I have a copy of the list. Vehicle was also on the dirty side. Has not been washed. Apart from that, the vehicle performed as expected.

Other than the pick-up, all other aspects of our first experience with Sixt were fine. We waited for some time in a line that should have been expected (shuttle drop-off) and anticipated with a staffing up. Instead, there were only two check-in people, with up to four other staff members standing about chatting with each other and checking their phones - and then offering us cookies. It was frustrating to feel that their customers' time wasn't being valued, and that they weren't doing all they could to get everyone taken care of as quickly as possible.

I flew to Lax from Qatar for 16 hrs. When I reached Enterprise location there were cars available in the lot however they kept repeating to me that there was no car available. Not even a lower category class. The Enterprise staff were so rude and did not take any responsibility of the situation and did not provide an alternative solution. I even called costumer service without any help. They left me and my family out side in the hot sunny day for 4 hrs. Then, I had to wait with my suitcases and 5 children for more 4 hrs in the sun until we found a ride to the hotel. I end up spending 500 USD on Taxi on that day. I never had such bad experiences and feelings. My whole travel was effected financially and physically. Who shall take the responsibility of what happened? Thank you

The car was great.The customer service was terrible when I dropped off the car. They said I crashed it. I didn't. It did look like someone may have hit me when I was parked. My insurance will cover that. The way it was communicated to me was very aggressive and poorly done.

N/aThe staff was only friendly for the purpose of up selling me. They were completely unhelpful with resolving the botched reservation. Instead they saw an opportunity to saddle with a “car class change” that cost more than the vehicle rental, this was predatory.

I spent as much time waiting in line, 90 minutes, waiting to pick up my reserved Dollar vehicle at LAX as my flight took to go from Sacramento to Los Angeles. At various times there were only three customer service employees working to handle a line that stretched to the door. I rationalized that Dollar could afford to offer the cheapest rentals because it does not pay enough employees to efficiently run its operation.

We had reservation for a certain car but there wasn’t any available and the rep offered a bigger car but wanted to charge me of course. I did not get any discount on the car I took even though it was smaller than what I tried reserving. The charge was for a specific car and I did not get a car that size. I understand the upsell but then it should be the same with a lesser vehicle.

How is waiting 4 1/2 hours for a car that was reserved days before. The line to get to the service counter wrapped around the outside of the building. Apparently this has been the norm for quite a while. Customers should be warned before making reservations. To make things worse, there were no apologies from any of the employees,only from a couple of the security people.

The rental line was 3 hours long. No explanation, help or information. Just a massive line at the pickup location. Missed meetings and meals. Then they overcharged me for gas. Basically equaled about $6/ gal for what the charged me for the prepay fill up. It’s the first time I had tried it because the agent said it was cheaper than gas outside. I should have known not to listen to any agents- had a moment of weakness actually trusting someone. Don’t rent here. Get an Uber into town to enterprise or somewhere else away from the airport and fill up yourself so you don’t get ripped off.

Don’t rent from Dollar - long lines at LAX. We were lucky with only 1hr 20mins because it was a week day. Some waited as long as 6hrs. Also I was charged a toll fee which I didn’t accept. Having trouble getting it refunded.

We did not get instructions on how to catch the shuttle to the rental office. We had a lot of difficulty figuring it out and had to wander around a bit. Turns out you have to take a public shuttle to an poorly marked parking area and then try to call for the Midway shuttle to pick you up, however they don't answer their phone and the recorded message says the office is not open and does not allow you to leave a message. Thankfully another person waiting got through and got the shuttle to come and pick everyone up. Our reserved van was "not cleaned" so they substituted a Tahoe at the same rate but unfortunately it was too tall for access to the parking lot at our hotel, so we had to park at an adjacent lot with no in-out privileges. The car was excellent and service was otherwise excellent, however we did not attempt to use their shuttle to return to the airport.

Midway charged me for insurance, but then would not cancel it once I confirmed over the phone, as instructed, that I had coverage through my Visa Sapphire credit card. This additional, unnecessary charge came to nearly $300. Otherwise, service was fine.

After landing in LA, you begin to search for how to get to the Midway rental lot. If you call them, the information is wrong, if you look on their website, the information is wrong, if you look on the wall signage to how to get to the rental areas, the information is wrong. We had to get on a bus that was supposed to take us to a "rental depot" but when you do it drops you off on a random street near a sign that says rental depot that is a 15 min walk away from where you are supposed to pick up the car. After finally arriving at the location, very annoyed with how to get there, I was told they did not have enough vehicles to rent so they canceled my reservation. Their solution was to send me to another rental company. Since I now had to rent a car the same day as I arrived, the cost increased my rental fee by over $200. The Midways employee's response when I explained that this was unacceptable was, "its not that expensive".....maybe not the right response to a customer. My advice, stay far far away from Midway. Saving the extra $75 seems tempting but stick with a larger rental car brand. Midway is just going to screw you and wish you a good day. Terrible service that I will never recommend!!

We booked a compact car, when we got there they told us all they have is a mini van. We just wanted to start our vacation so we did not want to argue. They brought up the van and we drove off to go get food since we just got off a 5 hour flight. Half way through we I realized the gas was on empty and my wife took out a sanitizing cloth to wipe the steering wheel and the cloth was pure dirt. We looked and realized the car had not been cleaned. That’s unacceptable during a pandemic. After being on the phone for an hour and arguing, we finally took the car back and they gave us another car. Terrible level of service from the LAX location.

This was quite possibly the worst car rental experience one could imagine. Firstly, it’s a massive hassle to get to the place. Then, I had a reservation yet still waited for over 3 hours to get a car only to leave empty handed and frankly, angry. Went over to Budget without a reservation and drove off with a nice clean car in less than 10 minutes. Serves me right I guess for trying to save a buck at some no-name crapshoot of a place.

My reservation was canceled so they ended up charging me more because of that. What would have made it better was it they honored the price I reserved it at instead of charging me an additional $15 a day. That is not good customer service. For that reason alone I will probably not use them again. Travel is usually already a stressful situation and this made it worse.

Our arrival on Westjet was delayed by over an hour & the rental was given to someone else. Avis would not honour the reservation and to duplicate it would have cost over $USD1500! We ended up with a $USD375 weekend rental with a hold-back of $150 & I ended up taking a shuttle to Santa Barbara and train/bus combo to Oakland for the remainder of my stay in California.

The customer service at Avis was great. The cars were very nice. However, they need to be better maintained. The first car needed an oil change and developed a flat tire, and the second car had a dead battery that needed to be jump started. Considering how expensive car rentals are, the value was pretty good.

The pickup was an absolute disgrace. Nowhere near enough staff working, huge lines. When I picked up the car, it was covered in scratches / marks and the Thrifty employee I approached about the condition of the vehicle shrugged his shoulders and said "not my problem". I understand there are some busy times and some things are out of ones control but when we walked into the rental location for pick up the line was so long and for our entire wait (over an hour) there were at least a consistent 50+ customers on line and only 4 associates working the desk. I also understand they need breaks and shifts for lunch but if the location is going to be that busy then they need to schedule more staff. When we finally got to the associate - while very polite and friendly she didn’t explain the pricing breakdown very clearly so things had to be repeated and clarified several times and once things were completed she told us to go find a red car in the space number… we found the same make and model she told us but the color was different. At that point we weren’t going back in to wait another 45 minutes. Luckily there was another associate who happened to just be walking around near by and approached us and explained how to get the top of the convertible down (since we hadn’t used one before) however since no one walked out with us, if he hadn’t been there we would have had to figure it out for ourselves. Also our rental car we got the Apple car play wasn’t working or would work one minute and then not the next. We called the customer service number and they said they could nothing to help us. One other thing was nobody came out to check they vehicle for any damage, scrapes, scratches, dings, etc (which there were a few) before we drove off in the vehicle - I took photos just to mark that it wasn’t us that made those so we wouldn’t get charged.

I was promised a Land Rover or similar. I called Thrifty ahead of time they said worst case scenario I’d get a Cadillac. When I got there they said I had specifically reserved an Infinity. They were very rude and not a little bit helpful. I paid extra $60 I was told to “upgrade” to a BMW. They charged me 110, and when I see my statement they charged me over $300 total! I work in the Car business and BMW is not an upgrade from Land Rover. I’m still very upset about the experience and my corporation will not be using this service and I will tell every one about my experience so that they don’t go through it like I did.

Pick-up of my vehicle was one of the worst rental car experiences I have ever had. For no obvious reason, I waited approximately 2 hours to actually pick up the vehicle. The actual face time with at checkout was quick, but the line to get my vehicle was outrageous. I will never again use Thrifty at LAX due to the experience. It did not help that the car smelled as if it had been smoked in and then covered with a perfume.

In LA, Thrifty shares a building with Dollar and Hertz. Thrifty and Dollar share a single line for renters. The wait was about 3 hours on a Saturday morning. While waiting, my wife was able to wait on the Hertz line and got a car in less than an hour with no reservation. I cancelled the Thrifty reservation.

Two check-out counters, 50 people in line, waiting outside in the sun, without shade or access to bathrooms if needed. A third check-out counter was manned, but did not avail itself to help when there was no "Fastbreak" customer. Certainly that would have helped - checking customers out until a "Fastbreak" customer came along. But no, just those two counters, with more people arriving with each shuttle. Poorly handled. I collected the car in LAX and returned it one way to PDX. My flight left at 0600 and the PDX Budget didn't open until 1000 and the other locations in Portland didn't open until 0800. I spoke to the Budget representatives about how to return the car before my flight and they gave me NO options but to wait until a center opened as they didn't have after hours return options. I was literally told I had to wait until something opened. This was the worst rental experience I ever had. DO NOT rent from Budget, the customer service is horrible! I will never rent from Budget again. Also, the LAX lot was dirty and the attendants were rude. The car was covered in bug splatter and the attempt to clean left water spot on the windows I had to clean myself. I had to also clean the windshield interior as it was quite obviously not touched. Ugh, stay away from Budget!

I booked a car two weeks before my travel date. Two days before they called me to tell me they didn't have any cars available, and there was nothing they could do for me. These people can take a reservation, but they don't seem capable of holding the reservation. Which really, is the whole point of the reservation. The holding.

The biggest issue is a Priceline issue more than Airport Van Rentals. Priceline’s marketing is misleading having stated AVR cara come with unlimited miles. The confirmation email clearly states the same. This is not true. Our miles were limited to 1,000 miles. Additionally, no instructions were given for after hours drop off. Poor customer service.

Drop off was very easy, great daily rate1. Unlimited mileage quoted at Priceline reservation, BIG surprise when at pick mileage cap at 375 miles per day. NO GOOD, we do not like surprises. 2. First van provides had expired license plates, no good to drive out of state. 3. Priceline customer service not helpful on resolving "unlimited" mileage discrepancy.

NOTHINGWORST experience EVER!!! There was supposed to be a shuttle to come pick us up to get the car, NO ONE EVER SHOWED UP, nor did they answer the phone calls for 3 straight hours. They said they are not to be held accountable for any reservations done through a 3rd party website. Had to rebook me all over at a higher rate. Also had the rudest employees. My advice is to be responsible and hire better employees. DON'T RECOMMEND AT ALL. It's a HUGE SCAM and their cars are full of damages.

Nothing. The reservation was not honored. I rode my bike 60 miles to pick up a van that was not actually reserved. NO representatives from Kayak/Priceline could be reached via phone. Automated CS told me I could make an appointment to speak with someone later in the week! I found another van, rode another 13 miles to get it and instead of paying the $322 I confirmed with Priceline I ended up paying $900 at Enterprise.Literally everything.

No license plateWe got pulled over for no rear license plate. Woman at pickup was rude. When we could not understand what she was telling us - she just kept repeating it with no additional explanation. They have you just go over by yourself and pick out a car when they are all parked in so tight there are few options. They are also mostly kias even though your reservations says Toyota or something similar for midsize car. Misleading and unhelpful.

Rude customer service rep named Malik. Does not know the meaning of CUSTOMER service. My car wasn't available when I arrived and rep told me I had to just sit and wait, not knowing when the car would come in, even though they had other vehicles available. Also tried to get me to pay an additional charge for the vehicles they had available. We went back and forth until another customer service rep, I think named Emery, stepped in and provided true CUSTOMER service. Terrible experience though.

Pickup was horrible. We waited for an hour + and then waited some more. That was after an extensive ride(s) out from the airport. Would not recommend. Returning the car was easy as was the shuttle back to the airport but that didn't make up for how this started off our trip.

The pickup and drop off process is horrendous. From the airport you take a shuttle to a parking lot, there you wait for a tightly confined econoline van to sardine into. We waited 25 minutes for the bus. From the Ace Car Rental place, the wait was about 25 minutes. The driver said no one called him to come pick up customers. Wait what??!!! Then what were you doing? Faster processes from the initial pickup/processing to faster return dropoff back to the Airport is what will keep customers coming back consistently. It currently takes too much time. Time is money.

There was no direct shuttle from the airport. We had to take an extra bus to the offsite parking area then received a final ride to the rental lot. The staff were reasonably friendly, but the van we rented was completely dirty. The exterior needed a wash, and the interior had not been cleaned at all - there was chocolate on all of the seats and chips and other crumbs on the floor of the van. We didn’t want to wait another 30 minutes in line waiting for the clerk, so we cleaned the van and drove it. It did drive well, thankfully. We will not rent again from ACE.

Renting at Ace was hands-down my worst rental experience I’ve ever experienced across the globe. First, the building is described as being at LAX, but it was not. You have to take two shuttles in order to get to the facility. They did have a return shuttle to the airport after dropping the car off. My biggest issue was when my flight with United delayed and they charged me an additional day for late fee when my flight delayed several hours. Apparently, they have a 59 minute grace and any additional hour up to three hours is $30-$40 extra and an additional day is charged after three. They are NOT flexible with unforeseen circumstances and are very rude. To this day I haven’t received a call from the manager. I returned from there July 1st. Lastly, when I booked this rental my price was a little over $800, but when I pick up the car my rental price essentially double due to all the extra fees I was not expecting. If you could avoid renting from this agency, please do.

NO car!!!! Shuttle from the airport comes by rarely; finally when ot showed up we stood in line at the rental place for over an hour. With us many other angry people waiting for their car. Only one person was helping the customers and there were computer booths set up to do the work. When our turn came after an hour wait we were told we were TOO LATE and no car was going to be given to us!!!!! However….. we could rent an upgraded hotel ne if we wanted for twice as much of our previously agreed price! Super rude, super dishonest. We didn’t get a car at all. Horrible experience! The shuttle that should pick you up from airport takes you to some parking lot and then you wait 30-60 min for an Ace van to pick you up and take you to the rental car center. Once there, you are told by the monitor staff to go on Google and give them a 5 star review and after that they will give you a coupon. So I was forced to give them a 5 star review while they waited when the overall experience deserves 1 star.

Friendly staff, disney plus on the big screenIt took 1.5 hours to get our car with just 2 customers in front of us. The representative who checked us in was working remotely, so we were face timing him through an iPad on the counter. It was very inconvenient and took forever. The reservation said we have to pay $300 deposit, he told us, doesn't matter what the reservation says, we charge $500. The car we got smelled like weed. We exchanged it for another car that smelled like smoke and was dirty. I had to stop at a store on the way home and buy disinfectant to clean it myself. Never again!

The company forced me to get collision insurance through their company, even if I have a damage waiver insurance through my credit card which many rental company accept. The contract I signed with the company said that collision insurance is not mandatory but optional, however the manager told me it was mandatory and if I didn't want to pay for it they would not give me the car. my experience with economy rental/allied is the stuff travelers' nightmares are made of. my nightmare started at LAX where i searched for a designated economy shuttle only to find out they do not have one. you have to use the LAX green shuttle (don't confuse it with the pink shuttle!) which drops you off on century blvd where you wait for another shuttle to pick you up. we saw shuttles come and go and come and go at least twice before our shuttle came 30min later. it drove us down maybe two blocks, pulled into an awful alley filled with wrecked cars where we dropped off and told to walk to the front of the building. There was a line that went down the block with people who had been waiting 30min w/out the line moving so much as an inch. they had wayyyyy over booked the cars!! after another 30min i couldn't wait any longer because i had a scheduled appointment. i started out my journey with plenty of time for my appointment but, because of the long wait time for their shuttles and waiting for a car i never received, i was late for my meeting! the saying "you get what you pay for" doesn't apply in this case because you get far less than what you pay for from economy rental. the old saying "the cheap comes out expensive" was ringing in my ears as i called for an alternative ride and left everyone still standing in line for the chance of getting a car from economy. i DO NOT recommend this company!!!!!

I really wish I had read the reviews before booking. Through them I found out that I would be charged not only for an insurance policy I didn’t need, but also an additional fee that would remove the limit of driving to 10 miles/a day (a fact that was not supported by my booking, which said it was unlimited miles). Needless to say, I didn’t pick up the car. I ate the money I sunk into it bc there was no refund option and I rented with a different company.

I was refunded the extra $10.00 I had been charged to get me to the airport in time to catch my flight.Hidden charge - about $4.50 more than quoted by KAYAK. I had to pay $4+ for the inconvenience of waiting longer (they only run every 15 min) for a shuttle; than having to wait 15 mins for another pick up to take me to the car rental. AMPM was just bad newsThey mixed up my pick up time. I was scheduled to pick up my vehicle at 12 noon, they had me picking up at 2pm. She was adamant about this 2pm pick up time until I showed her my reservation on my phone. After this got worked out, she told me that they not only didn't have the vehicle I requested, they only had one vehicle on site- a gigantic minivan, which isn't ideal for city driving. When returning the vehicle they drop you off about a mile away from the shuttle because, in our driver's words "We don't pay to enter the parking lot" A mile walk carrying luggage at the end of the trip isn't how you want to end a trip.

Took me over 40 minutes to get a car. First car I got had broken trunk lock. Instead of replacing this car, stuff starts to guide me how should I close this trunk. Overall, if you want cheap car, this is the place to go. If you want normal service, I wouldn't recommend this place.

Great priceI liked that the service was the cheapest I found for the weekend. I have rented out of LAX before and I have waited over 30 minutes to get the right shuttle to arrive. This shuttle went around pretty frequently, and you end up in a random lot but AMPM is there when you arrive, ready with your car. They take you back to the hotel where their office is and process your paper work. The process is pretty quick and the service is great.The cars could use a car wash, at least the one we got. It wasn't very dirty, and we did't mind it too much, its just when you rent a car you expect it to be clean. For the price and the service it's not too bad.

We were disappointed that when we arrived, our booking was canceled due to a flight delay. They have a policy that if you aren’t there within 2 hours of your reservation time your booking is canceled, which is fair, but we just didn’t know. It would be great if they collected snd checked flight numbers prior to cancelations. They ran out of cars in our price range. However, the customer service was exceptional and we were upgraded to a different car and given discounts on the upgrade cost. Between the amazing customer service rep, the managers, and the guy inspecting our car prior to taking it - the staff was absolutely amazing. We were very pleased with the upgraded car and the care they took to support us when we were struggling to figure out what to do. Thank you for an excellent service and amazing car rental experience!

Don’t bother unless you like to be frustrated & waste time. 2 shuttles from LAX, & the first shuttle drops you at a “depot” which is really a street corner without seats or covering from the hot sun. Then when you call for the second shuttle, no one answers. The second shuttle was a van without enough room for the hot & tired customers. The office is in a tacky industrial area. The office is dirty, dingy & way too crowded with no where to sit either inside or out during the excessively long wait for help. Fees are tacked on. I paid Kayak for added insurance coverage then was told I’d have to buy Green Motion/U-Save insurance, too, as they didn’t honor the insurance through the Kayak site OR add my own insurance. The office is ONLY open 8:00AM-6:00PM & no extended shuttle, so fend for yourself if you have early & evening flights. The clerk didn’t know what he was doing & another person had to come over to correct everything. Even though I picked up the car 2hours late & had written documentation the return time had been adjusted, it wasn’t. So 2 hours before the return time I started receiving calls as to why the car had not been returned & that my time could be extended for a fee. Never had such a difficult, time consuming, annoying experience renting a car, even in foreign countries! Oh, and 5 days later the $250. Deposit still hasn’t been returned! Worst car rental experience of my life! Avoid & go with a reputable company. Also, don NOT use Kayak to book. Go directly to the rental car company to avoid a bunch of undisclosed fees!

This company did not seem prepared the volume of business the pandemic has brought their way. It took a very long time for the clerks to manage the paperwork for each customer. It seems their compute system was very primitive: facts I had entered online had to be entered again by the clerk. There were a lot of papers to deal with and it took a long time to find a car and get it ready. Getting to the rental office was a nightmare. I'm sure this had as much to do with the airport as the rental company. In any case, getting from LAX to the rental should have been described online so we could have spent less time chasing our tails. The whole experience reminded me of why the top car rental agencies are on top.

This place closes at 6pm. My flight didn't land until after this time, but was not specified before booking. I had to take an uber to my hotel room and back the next morning. The rep tried to charge me for additional insurance even after I told him I already purchased insurance. There were also additional charges that were charged to my credit card after I I purchased the card. The rental costs well over what I have paid to Dollar in the past, and they talk about how great their savings are compared to other rental car places. Never again will I rent from this place.

This place is awful. It’s off airport and has 2 stops and 2 shuttles to get a car. they drop you at a bus stop and tell you to hang on someone will be by! They also tell you to call when you land but there is no one answering ANY phones over 45 minutes of trying. When they do arrive you are going to sketchy back lot. Staff acts like they’re doing you a favor. Both check in a drop off required 15 minutes of total chaos. No order. No lines. We had Uber waiting fir us to get back to airport. It’s that bad. Not worth the hassle or savings.

1. The second shuttle didn’t come. I ended up walking the mile. I enjoy walking so it wasn’t so bad. 2. I got there and it was a long wait. Annoying but not untypical. 3. The guy told me I went to the wrong location. He pointed to the return car location address in the email and said to go there. 4. I walk 0.5miles to the other location. No one was there. Just a place to park cars 5. Walked back. Asked the guy if the pickup address in the confirmation email matches the address I was at. He confirmed it did. Said he didn’t have my reservation in the system. 6. Ended up ubering. Was here for business and spent 2hrs doing this. Waste of time.

Hidden TermsThe car was new and clean.They rely on Carrentals.com which has a horrible customer service experience. I wanted to adjust my booking, but Carrentals.com insisted that U-SAVE policy would not allow it unless I booked another car with them. When I arrived to pick up my car, U-SAVE mandated that I purchase third party liability insurance from them as they don't accept Canadian or international insurance coverage. This consequently raised the cost of my rental by another $250. I will not use them again.

Fraud Alert!! This company is a scam.The numbers given on the reservation - one was the corporate HQ in Mississippi which didn't answer the phones and the local number was a disconnected Verizon wireless number. No shuttles despite advertisement, and when I took taxi to the address in the reservation there was no such business there. What the heck? This wasn't at any small airport, it was at LAX. Several hours later when I'm already in another company's rental car I got a call back from the HQ who said the reservation email must have had old phone number and address. As for the shuttle, they would have needed me to take a shuttle to a private parking garage telling them I'm using their lot and then crossing the street. That is shady as heck. Too bad for them I already listed this as a fraudulent/scam charge on my credit card. Lady at HQ said they would fight it, and I broke my cool and told them to suck an egg. Good luck getting your $32 from me.

2 types of insurance and the car still wasn't coveThe weather on the day of pick up was pretty good.The Alianz insurance I paid for during the online booking process only covered me for personal injury. When I arrived at U-save, I was forced to pay extra for the mandatory liability insurance required by the state of California. I had paid for two types of insurance and still had no cover on the actual car I was driving. I've rented cars through a number of companies in L.A and wasn't surprised to be screwed with the insurance. There's room in the market for a rental company with transperancy, maybe U-save could be the change.
