We did not get instructions on how to catch the shuttle to the rental office. We had a lot of difficulty figuring it out and had to wander around a bit. Turns out you have to take a public shuttle to an poorly marked parking area and then try to call for the Midway shuttle to pick you up, however they don't answer their phone and the recorded message says the office is not open and does not allow you to leave a message. Thankfully another person waiting got through and got the shuttle to come and pick everyone up. Our reserved van was "not cleaned" so they substituted a Tahoe at the same rate but unfortunately it was too tall for access to the parking lot at our hotel, so we had to park at an adjacent lot with no in-out privileges. The car was excellent and service was otherwise excellent, however we did not attempt to use their shuttle to return to the airport.

My only issue was that initially I didnt realize I would have to take a LYFT or UBER to get to the Midway on Sepulveda.

Midway charged me for insurance, but then would not cancel it once I confirmed over the phone, as instructed, that I had coverage through my Visa Sapphire credit card. This additional, unnecessary charge came to nearly $300. Otherwise, service was fine.

After landing in LA, you begin to search for how to get to the Midway rental lot. If you call them, the information is wrong, if you look on their website, the information is wrong, if you look on the wall signage to how to get to the rental areas, the information is wrong. We had to get on a bus that was supposed to take us to a "rental depot" but when you do it drops you off on a random street near a sign that says rental depot that is a 15 min walk away from where you are supposed to pick up the car. After finally arriving at the location, very annoyed with how to get there, I was told they did not have enough vehicles to rent so they canceled my reservation. Their solution was to send me to another rental company. Since I now had to rent a car the same day as I arrived, the cost increased my rental fee by over $200. The Midways employee's response when I explained that this was unacceptable was, "its not that expensive".....maybe not the right response to a customer. My advice, stay far far away from Midway. Saving the extra $75 seems tempting but stick with a larger rental car brand. Midway is just going to screw you and wish you a good day. Terrible service that I will never recommend!!

We booked a compact car, when we got there they told us all they have is a mini van. We just wanted to start our vacation so we did not want to argue. They brought up the van and we drove off to go get food since we just got off a 5 hour flight. Half way through we I realized the gas was on empty and my wife took out a sanitizing cloth to wipe the steering wheel and the cloth was pure dirt. We looked and realized the car had not been cleaned. That’s unacceptable during a pandemic. After being on the phone for an hour and arguing, we finally took the car back and they gave us another car. Terrible level of service from the LAX location.

This was quite possibly the worst car rental experience one could imagine. Firstly, it’s a massive hassle to get to the place. Then, I had a reservation yet still waited for over 3 hours to get a car only to leave empty handed and frankly, angry. Went over to Budget without a reservation and drove off with a nice clean car in less than 10 minutes. Serves me right I guess for trying to save a buck at some no-name crapshoot of a place.

They do not accept debit cards at all and even with a credit card, the deposit was $600. Didn’t find this out until arrival and wasted hours of our time.

My reservation was canceled so they ended up charging me more because of that. What would have made it better was it they honored the price I reserved it at instead of charging me an additional $15 a day. That is not good customer service. For that reason alone I will probably not use them again. Travel is usually already a stressful situation and this made it worse.
