We did not receive any compensation, but Singapore/Silk Airlines told us they were able to get us a flight home to LAX instead, but that it wouldn't be until the next day. We spent money on a hotel and food and waited until the next morning, got to the airport early for check in only to find that Singapore/Silk had in fact, given up our seats that they had promised us. They said that we now would have to wait another day just to get a flight from Singapore to LAX. We asked to speak with a manager, and eventually were able to get two seats due to cancellations. This was intended to be a very special and romantic trip that was essentially ruined. Since no one could have anticipated that the volcano would cause cancellation, we should be refunded for our flights. We are so crushed that we did not get to go to Bali, and now we may NEVER get to go because we are out of money. At the VERY least, the leg of our flights from Singapore to Bali, and Bali to Singapore, should be refunded. We are extremely disappointed."

Cons: "Flight delayed for 5 hours - Connection from Manila was going to be very close. Flight attendant assured me multiple times they would hold the connecting plane, and give us an escort off the plane to make it to the other gate as fast as possible. We arrive in Manila, and there is no special escort. They take us at a regular pace to a connections desk in the terminal. They delayed helping us so we missed the only other flight leaving that night for Bali. While the person at the transfer desk was supposed to be helping us get new connecting flights, they would stop helping us, and take care of other people that showed up at the desk. It took them 1 1/2 hours to rebook our flight. They tried to put us on a flight that took over 20 hours with connections for a direct flight we had missed that would take about 4 hours of flying. We had to get on Kayak.com ourselves to find a better connecting flight that left the next morning. After 1 1/2 hours, the attendant finally put on a flight that was similar to the one we found but slightly worse. They said they could not work with certain airlines leaving from Manila, which I did not understand. Then, they proceed to tell us to go wait in the terminal overnight for the flight leaving the next day. We had to directly ask them to give us a hotel room for the night, which they did upon our request, but were not going to offer it without us asking for it. I understand delays and missed flights are part of air travel. But we were routinely lied to, ignored, and flat out pushed aside during the rebooking process. It was a completely unacceptable way to treat a customer. Never fly Philippine Airlines if you can avoid it."

Instead of the flight attendants talking to each other they should have been monitoring the passengers. The person beside me took a phone call literally 30 seconds before the plane landed. As we were going down the runway ( from landing ) a person in the row in front of me and behind me made phone calls; CRAZY

We waited in line to check the bag, found out that since we hadn't paid for it ahead of time, we could get the bag checked but would need to go stand in a new line to pay for it and could not have the bag tag until this was done. Then the new line only had one agent working all of the people who needed to pay for their bags. When we got to the front, we were asked to pay the bag fee with a credit card and the processing fee in cash. Since we were only connecting in Singapore, of course we did not have cash. She could not process the charge, walked us over to a new desk and a new line where they processed the bag charge without the cash fee (how this wasn't done initially, I have no idea) and finally, we were finished with the check in process an hour later."

Only one service officer was being bombarded with questions from passengers when it would save so much trouble just making a proper announcement in the first place. Boarding queue also merged with another flight departing at a similar time, causing a massive bottleneck. Whilst on board, pre-ordered food was not served with cutlery and it took another 15 mins to get the attn of the stewardess to get the cutlery served. Would have been faster to just get it myself."
Leg room is just too short and food costs and is not good quality. But the big issue was they said that my luggage would be transferred to the next flight, so no need for me to exit customs, get a visa and reboard. However that didn't happen and my luggage is still, 2 days later, in Denpasar. So whilst the flight went on time and was fairly average, I think that the cost vs quality is not good enough.

Cons: "My girlfriend and I purchased tickets on Kayak to Malaysia. The price seemed decent and we got the hours we wanted...there was no option to add baggage when I was booking the ticket so I assumed the baggage was included (like on many international flights.) When we got to the airport, our flight was over two hours delayed...We wanted to switch to another flight instead because we had a whole day planned, but they said because it was through a third-party we were not able to do that and there was no way to contact kayak directly. So we were forced to wait and when we went to go check in our luggage they tried to charge us $60 for 15 kg and $20 for every additional kilogram. They said it was too late to get the online price (which was half of that amount) My luggage was 25 kg which amounted to an additional $200 which ended up costing MORE than my round trip flight. Jetstar is the worst airline I have ever flown. I emailed kayak for a refund or some customer support after the nightmare we dealt with ON New Year’s Day and still have yet to hear back about this matter. Going back to solely booking airlines directly or through Expedia because at least you can get in touch with them when things go wrong."

You literally have to pay $3 for a cup of water on the flight. No peanuts, no juice, no water, no bags included. I'm surprised the toilets didn't cost something."

I understand it's a part of Chinese and Indian culture to just shove and push your way in, but this wasn't either of those countries. The crew needs to make the passengers follow instructions and act more civilized"
