I reserved a Ford Transit (or similar) 12-passenger van. The reason I booked this rental with Dollar via KAYAK was specifically because pricing was competitive and seemed better than most other options. I booked this more than 3 months prior to our trip. Once I arrived at the Dollar rental desk, I was told that my reservation was for a 7 passenger minivan. Despite me showing emails with the reservation details showing the rate I paid and showing the type of vehicle, Dollar refused to honor the reservation. I ultimately was charged more than $500 extra for the upgrade and additional fees for the full size van, and I definitely could have booked it for cheaper than that back when I originally reserved the vehicle. I got screwed because of a communication breakdown between Dollar rental car and their online booking agent (KAYAK) and Dollar refused to accept any accountability for it…the question is, will Kayak take any responsibilityReviewed Dec 4 2024

I would never rent from dollar again. They try to bully you into paying for extra's and use language that misleads you, until you look at your bill and have an extra $200-$300 worth of charges. If you're looking to rent a car, go somewhere else!Reviewed Nov 30 2024

I was overcharged, the car was dirty and smelly and badly maintained. I also forgot a personal item in the car, and it’s impossible to have anyone help me. The customer service is horrible. I will never rent with them again.Reviewed Oct 19 2024

No point in asking pre check in only to ask for the same info at the desk. Waiting in line 20 minutes to get car is unacceptable. I was not aware I rented a fully electric vehicle until I got to the desk to check in. After agreeing to that I walked out to garage to have to wait in line again. Came to my turn and no electric vehicle available. I was good with "upgrade" to another vehicle. Overall experience was horrible. I won't rent from dollar again.Reviewed Mar 3 2024

The check in process was poor, at best. I was told to go back inside after the kiosk associate told me I was in the wrong to see her first. This was incorrect. I had a contract as a VIP member and the sign posted about check in prior to 11am was correct which it wasn’t. Once I received my car and logged it with SunPass and loaded bags I was denied exit due to a registration issue/given the wrong 3 row SUV. I was asked to drive back, see the same rude woman and get a new SuV. Unload. Load again. Re-register with SunPass. Oh, except this time the car they gave me was the body of a three row SUV without the option ticked for the seats themselves. Lovely, as I needed the seats for my family and not so much for the extra bag space. I left. Made it worked but so aggravating. No more Dollar.
