We booked for 12pm pickup and showed up at 12pm. They close at 12pm on Saturday. We were not able to get the car. Called Hertz and they said it was our fault for not checking the hours. Hours were not listed in the booking confirmation.Reviewed Jan 13 2022

Car was clean & in good condition. Excellent communication from everyone especially the manager Tess & the lady who checked us out at the gate, they could not have been friendlier or more helpful. One exception of when picking up the young lady did not seem to know we were covered for insurance & presented us with a bill for $99 she said which was for an extra day, we were not taking an extra day which was clearly stated on our rental voucher (which she did not want to see) I questioned the amount to be charged & this was amended immediately. Overall would definitely use this service again.Reviewed Jan 6 2022

Rental in Oakland: Choice of cars was rather poor, seems to be related to the Corona Crisis though. No information about upgrades. No GPS available. Staff was very friendly but was apparently not trained to understand international travellers‘ needs and questiones who havn‘t had a lot of experience on the US car rental market. I tried out a competitor before, which worked much better.Reviewed Dec 8 2021

Pros:Pick up and drop off were very easy, easy to extend online, no hassles/fairly straightforwardCons:Lower cost In particular, it would be nice to have the option to add the insurance for only select days of the rental where I knew I'd be driving the car.Reviewed May 5 2021

Pros:Car was very nice and clean. Drop off was very easy. Just handed over the keys to someone who walked up to the car as I arrived. Got email containing receipt.Cons:Hertz website says there's Gold Counter Service at this location (ie, "Show your license and pick-up your keys...") Not at Oakland Marriott HLE. I specifically asked. Nope, I got the full enjoyment of waiting in line at the counter, suffering through the insurance upsell, re-running my credit card, etc.Reviewed Nov 28 2020

Pros:The staff was friendly but not helpfulCons:Vehicles were not in stock and we had to get a downsized vehicle. We were advised to go to the airport to trade in for a bigger vehicle and we got there nothing was available. Since we accepted the vehicle and drove to the airport, we could not get a refund. Pros:The staff was helpful and informative.Cons:The car reeked of cigarette smoke. I had a minor cold and was congested, so I couldn't smell it when I first got in the car. But then two different friends said it smelled like a smokestack. When my congestion cleared I smelled it too. And there were a few things in the car that had belonged to the previous renter.Reviewed Oct 28 2020
