Pros: Yes
Pros: all went well, car did good and amazing gas mileage
Cons: right around 70Kmh the front right wheel was wobbly and the breaks sounded worn (but worked)
Cons: Didn’t provide the standards of car that I reserved and charge led me twice. Still don’t have my money back that they have stolen
Excellent Basic transportation rental.
Pros: English spoken. Free shuttle to/from airport. Easy pickup of rental - quick & efficient. Small vehicle (Chevrolet Spark) good for tight streets with heavy traffic in Quito. No obnoxious pressure to buy extra insurance. Lowest price I found.
Cons: Underpowered for high altitude driving. Small wheels feel every cobblestone.
Beware Avis Charges $5000.00 Deposit at Quito Airport
Pros: The shuttle to and from the airport.
Cons: Being squeezed out of $5,000.00 for the deposit of a Chevy Aveo at the Avis counter in the Quito Ecuador Airport.
Limited km's
Pros: The drop off location was good for getting into the airport quickly.
Cons: The Chevy I rented is such a horrible car, it is in fact the worst car I have ever driven in over 1 million miles behind the wheel.
I would be weary of renting from Avis again if this is the fleet put forth.
Cons: The fuel was double the price on the street, also the returning office wasn’t easy to locate, when I arrived there was no one there to receive the car, the person took more than half an hour to arrive and then said we had to go to the counter at the airport because I had exceeded the Kms that were included on the deal, charged us double for the gas and took another 15mins to park the car before taking me to the terminal
Pretty easy and good car
Pros: Very friendly staff and a good new car. Be aware of a $5000 deposit for the car.
Nobody there and no car there!
Cons: We had to wait 15 minutes for a person to show up at the counter in the airport. When he did arrive, he had no car available despite us having a confirmed reservation on kayak. Furthermore he almost took pleasure in telling us we had no car.
Car broken and perfect service.
Pros: I liked two things about Avis
1) Originally I booked car via Rentalcars.com. They had confirmed my booking and 1 day before pick up they cancelled it without even sending me email or letting me know! I chat with their support and they said: Sorry, we cannot help you. WTF?! So I had to arrange everything after arrival - at Avis counter there was very nice guy with fluent English that helped us a lot finding a good deal that would be similar to original booking. Thanks again Mr. Francisco P.! Great help!
2) Our car got some engine issue by the end of our trip in the middle of the national park. Avis call center was helpful and they brought us new (much bigger car) in several ours with no question or extra charge.
So:
Avis rulez - I will use it again next time
Rentalcars.com sucks - never more
Wont take a debit card
Cons: Refused me service even though I agreed to a $5000 hold on my debit card. Had to take a 6 hour cab ride for $275. Thanks for leaving me stranded at the Quito airport at 4 AM Avis!
Super easy pick up and drop off. Car was exactly what we expected.
Pros: Super easy pick up/drop off. Knowledgeable and kind clerks.
