Very disappointing experience — avoid Payless I had booked a rental car with Payless in advance, but when I arrived at Istanbul Airport to pick up the car, I was told that my reservation had been cancelled. I had never received any notification or warning that my booking had been cancelled. What made the situation even worse was that the employee at the counter then offered me the same car at a price that was around three times higher than what I had originally booked. I had no other choice at that moment, so I ended up paying almost three times the original price. I also did not receive my deposit back, even though I had no fines, damages, or any other issues with the rental. I cannot say for certain what happened with my reservation, but the circumstances made me seriously question whether it was deliberately cancelled so that I would have to pay a much higher price at the counter. Overall, this was one of the worst car rental experiences I have ever had. I will never rent from Payless again, and I strongly recommend looking for another rental company.Reviewed Aug 21 2026

Avis Bratislava is excellent car rental company with an amazing and very helpful team. The staff is always friendly, professional, and willing to go the extra mile to make everything easy and smooth. Thanks to the great team and excellent service, this has become my favourite car rental company. The only improvement I would suggest would be the option to extend the rental by one day directly by phone, which would make the service even more convenient. The agent at the desk could not have been more annoyed that I had rented from Payless (vs. Avis or Budget). She says they do everything by paper, so they don't actually have the cars in stock that Kayak rented to me. She was incredibly rude. And that was after the terrible surprise of arriving at an airport I use all the time to find that they've moved their rental cars off-site and didn't have enough buses to shuttle people there, so everyone was shoving each other -- in IOWA!! Watch out!!!! They lure you with cheap prices and when you arrive at the airport they show you that the reservation was cancelled to then rip you off with a high price. DON´T BOOK at Payless. Besides, when you return the car, they come up with extraordinarily high toll fees, which aren´t real. When you ask about the proof, they turn very aggressive and rude. Don´t pay them and ask for a receipt with an accurate breakdown. One month after I am still waiting for it. NEVER AGAIN!!!Reviewed Jun 24 2026
