Pros: I got a fine car for less than I would have paid at another agency.
Cons: The airport pickup was a nightmare. They only send a van when called, but no number could be located to call them. I took a cab to their pickup location for about 20 quid. They had not yet begun cleaning the car, although I was an hour late for my pickup. It took me over 2 hours to get out of there. In the middle of my rental they called and asked me to drive the car back so they could swap it for a different one. I was 5hrs away in Cornwall. They offered to pay for a tank of gas. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with them--obviously I did not return the car until my scheduled date. The drop-off location is at a hotel and no shuttle is offered to return to the terminals. Next time I would pay more to use a reputable company.
Cons: The office was closed and could not get through to any representatives on a call. Understand that we are in unprecedented times but unacceptable to allow booking (which was made the night before) for closed locations which forces customers to expose themselves more.
Pros: The staff at the pickup location. The car.
Cons: The customer service, both phone and email (never received a response). The drop-off at a different location was painful. Adding a driver was also painful since there was no Sixt in Liverpool, as I was told there was.
Pros: Shuttle driver and staff was very friendly.
Cons: I was told I had to downgrade my rental or upgrade because the shuttle driver took me to the wrong terminal. Because downgrading wouldn’t work, I had to love up to the larger vehicle and my rental rate DOUBLED!!!
Pros: The staff was very friendly and the service to the airport very efficient.
Cons: I believe the class of car was slightly misrepresented. I asked for a mid sized luxury and was presented with a Mini Cooper - not big enough for 3 of us and our luggage. I was upsold for a bigger BMW, and total cost was nearly 100% higher than the quoted price. (I did add a driver to the total). I was charged for a premium location as well, which was not part of my understanding when I booked.
Pros: Very quick and easy.
Cons: The back hatch was previously damaged and would not open normally. We had to jump on the bumper or drive over a curb to open it.
Pros: Pickup was awful. Had to argue to receive the class of car we had paid for. They were trying to downgrade rather than upgrade us when they did not have the exact type of car available that we had paid for. After arguing, magically, the exact car we had paid for appeared, ready to go!
Cons: SIXT has absolutely no signage to direct you to their rental car return at Heathrow. Originally we were booked in to return our car directly at Terminal 5, where I knew we could take the train to Terminal 2. Instead the "helpful" agent changed our drop-off to an off-site location which required bus
Pros: I had not even heard of Sixt before, but this experience gave me confidence to use the service again and to recommend it to others.
Pros: They upgraded the car because I was VERY ANGRY about the bait and switch on the insurance which cost me approximately 200 pounds more than it should have.
Cons: WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU IDIOTS!! I BOOKED A RATE WITH INSURANCE ON THE KAYAK SITE AND THEN WHEN I GET TO ENGLAND THEY TOLD ME AT THE DESK THAT THE INSURANCE RATE WAS WRONG AND CHARGED ME 200 POUNDS MORE!! WHY ARE YOU DOING BUSINESS WITH SIXT WHEN THEY OR YOU CLEARLY HAVE NO CLUE.
Pros: Quick ride to the collection point, helpful and friendly staff, no hard sell on insurances etc.
Pros: Liam went above and beyond in being sure that we had the correct directions and tips for driving out of busy London...especially difficult for an American accustomed to driving on the right!
Cons: The drop off rental return location was a little confusing but not too bad. Once we found the hotel parking garage, everything was clearly marked.
Pros: No fuss, get what you paid for! No up sell/over sell!
Navigation system was all inclusive instead of another add-on. Easy access at Gatwick although I feel that location is “very tight” for pickups and drop-offs! Staff are friendly and helpful!
Cons: They gave me a C4 Cactus which was an awful drive. I feel an offer of car type of other compacts would have been better!
