Singapore hotels near Fort Canning Park

Cons: Not really a hotel for walkers. We like to walk a lot and take public transportation. Main entry for hotel best for cars/taxis. There is an after thought roped off area on the edge of the circle drive for pedestrians. The entrance is on 3rd floor up a steep ramp/circle drive which goes from ground floor up to 3rd level where the lobby is. We got honked at twice by taxis. At the top of ramp you arrive to the smoking break area for taxi drivers. Once past that you get to the the beautiful lobby. I think they are more use to people arriving by car/limo.

Cons: Room, view, art display, staff...

Cons: Book months ahead for three. When I got there. Two twin and push in a rolling bed. Room too small for accommodation

Cons: Too expensive but well worth the stay!

Cons: Check out rush is poorly managed. Starting from waiting for elevators.

Cons: Price could be better. Availability of promotional specials would be mice.

Cons: Second rate reservation, checkin and checkout experience. Requested room unavailable. Overcharged. No senior staff availability. Poor conflict resolution.

Cons: The gym. For a hotel of this caliber and the size, the gym was a huge disappointment.

Cons: Passport was stolen by a staff member. Do not leave valuables out under any circumstances. Poor security.

Cons: Very poor to no breakfast options except for the very expensive average breakfast buffet for $55.

Cons: The food choices for dine-in service seemed limited and we're a bit overpriced.

Cons: Not only was the hotel and all amenities extremely overpriced, but it was way too crowded. You cannot get the experience with all the crowds. Your constantly waiting in line for everything! Including checking in, the pool, restaurants, etc. Very surprised that it did not meet my expectations.

Cons: We thought the Club 55 access would be an added value however I think they oversold the access and there were long lines to get seated within the time frame they reserved for cocktails hour. It was extremely annoying.

Cons: One thing I didn’t like was the long elevator wait times but that’s something I can easily get over because the positive outweighs the negative by a extremely wide margin.

Cons: The green in front of the hotel belongs ot the military. They woke me up at 6:30 am doing their exercises. Very irritating. Check before booking a bay side room if there are military exercises planned

Cons: at early evening bar noise comes to the rooms. hotel is old style, room doors are facing the inner court.

Cons: Too many "sorry" replies instead of solutions for numerous issues encountered during the stay. 5 star hotel brand delivering to 3- or 4- star service levels. I rave about the Fairmont Vancouver airport; Singapore Fairmont doesn't come close to meeting the perceived brand value.

Cons: Too much air freshener in the lobby, $54 buffet breakfast and not as close as suggested to the shopping on Orchard road.

Cons: The WIFI’s Internet access. It’s spotty, to say the least, and THAT, to me, makes an enormous difference. Even in the Executive Lounge on the 23rd floor, half the room, to the left of elevators and in the conference room ... excellent ... the other half ... forget it, had to use Singtel. Same in Prego, the Italian Restaurant on the ground floor (if you like black truffles, by the way, now they have a special truffle menu!).

Cons: Room didn't have a great view given the awkward angle of the window placement. Very little natural light to an otherwise beautiful "standard" room. The hotel "bar" in the basement is a hooker lounge full-stop. We've all seen the upscale hotel bars with a few working girls here and there but this is on another level where as if an NYC swish bar met the Bangkok red light district... If you're just going for a casual drink with a lady friend or colleague who is not looking for this, it's going to be awkward.... hard to believe a global brand like Hyatt is so closely associated... (but you can believe it brings great biz to Hyatt so they turn the other way.

Cons: hey, it's Orchard Road -- a very expensive part of Singapore! So be prepared for high prices!

Cons: 1) The reception staff is unassuming, ״square״ and not flexible at all and do not try to listen to the customer requests! They tried to “convince” us about the availability of room we have ordered, and then tried to send us to a separate building which was a two-minute walk from the hotel. Finally we got a run-down room, with worn carpets, not clean with mold and stains in the shower. 2) We waited about 20 minutes for a taxi to the airport on exit, in line, in the heat, outside the lobby

Cons: Too much detergent used in cleaning the room, resulting in slightly unpleasantly smelly for the second day of my stay

Cons: Everything else. Too pricey for what it is. Rooms feels and look old. 3stars most in my book.

Cons: 1. Badly-managed ground floor reception and registration. We arrived at the ground floor lobby and lined up with a number of other people. Only to be told by the young executive who finally served us -- rudely & impatiently -- that this registration counter was only for corporate bookings and we should go up to the 5th floor for all other bookings. If you intend to segregate and discriminate bookings, then perhaps some clear signage and wayfinding would help? Perhaps recognising that he had been rather rude, the young man then said he would register us anyway. He couldn't find our booking, asked to see the confirmation email, and then couldn't seem to wait the one minute it took me to call it up on my phone. 2. Poor manners at the 5th floor reception We came back at 1.30 pm and went straight up to the 5th floor reception, as instructed, to collect our keys. Chaos as there were many waiting to check-in. I lined up at what I thought was the concierge counter to ask what I needed to do if I was simply looking to collect keys rather than do a full check-in, and was barked at by another impatient man at the [unlabelled] counter to the side of me. Thank goodness for an older gentleman, Mr Suhaimi, who stepped forward to answer my simple question, promptly issued the keys, and assured us that our bags would be in our room, which it was. Kudos to Mr Suhaimi for being so well-mannered in a sea of rude Mandarin employees. 3. Went to our room. The shower cubicle had ugly black electrical tape all around the bottom, presumably to stop some sort of leak. Cheap toiletries. Old, tired fittings that haven't been updated since the late 1990s. Flat, overused pillows. 4. Breakfast the next morning at Chatterbox was dismal. Overcooked noodles, cheap butter, tasteless eggs. And a very small selection of food items that couldn't be called a buffet. 5. Rude service again at check-out, even though we had nothing to pay for and it was a straightforward sign-out. Doesn't anyone ever smile at this hotel? All in all, not worth the price, and certainly not worth our patronage. Don't bother with the Mandarin Orchard, it's way past its prime. There are many other hotels in SG that welcome you with a smile, maintain a good environment and charge you far less.

Cons: dual queen size beds would be ideal.

Cons: Almost 1 hour to check in and no apologies. The bathroom door accidently locked and took 40 minutes to send someone. Also when we went for breakfast my partner was told no slippers permitted. As a lifetime platinum member of Starwood I would suggest management needs a complete overhaul of staff and learn common courtesy. All in all I would never refer anyone to this or any Mandarin property.
