We would have liked for them to have a car for us! They did not and we ended up paying nearly twice as much because it was so last minute.....not cool at all! The girl was nice and apologetic but that didn't get us a car,we had to go to eurocar. I don't know if we can be compensated but don't offer something that isn't available....by the way we were on time....Reviewed Feb 19 2026

We rented a car through Kayak and we were given a specific pickup location. We arrived by taxi at the pick up location and there was no business there. We went across the street and a business their helped us to figure out where we were to go. This was more difficult because none of your paperwork included a phone number to call. We were able to finally connect with Hertz and we were given a new pick up location. At that location, we were told that they had moved two weeks earlier, and had been contacting Hertz daily to try and get them to tell customers of the new pick up location. This cost us two taxis instead of one, and we wasted an hour of time and huge stress. All Hertz had to do was notify customers of the new pick up location. Very bad service. Otherwise, staff and the car and the drop off were all very good.Reviewed Feb 5 2026

Much better than the Kia small SUV we rented the other portion of our trip. That car was terrible. The sprayers on the left wipers came in handy, but the gear shift was a bit tricky to use. Safety measures were very obvious, sometimes annoying, but overall helpful. The only real.negative was around navigation - the built in nav is the worst and most useless I've ever seen in a car. We mostly used Android Auto and it worked great via Bluetooth 90% of the time. But one of the days it just stopped working and wouldn't connnect, no.matter what we tried. Eventually, after a stop, it randomly started working again. Overall it handled well, got good gas mileage and provided plenty of room.Reviewed Dec 28 2025

Gas tank was not all the way full when we picked it up in Auckland. Told them in Wellington at drop off but not sure we will get credited the difference, as we returned it with a completely full tank.Reviewed Nov 13 2023
