The car we rented wasn't at the location. We spent almost 2 hours waiting on the car. We needed that size so it would fit our golf clubs. The staff was nice enoughReviewed Sep 23 2023

Hello. I'm Gabriel and I'm 21. I booked and reserved a car in Dublin Airport for 7:00 pm 15/10/2022 VolksWagen Polo , I went to the front desk and they didn't let me drive the car for my years of age. In the Kayak it didn't show the age policy and restrictions. I paid additionally the Axa additional driving insurance for €9.99 I'll send u the screenshot for the proof that I didn't know about anything and I would like to get a refund from the car and the insurance if it's possible. My driver's Name is Gabriel Cruz. Let me know as soon as possibleReviewed Oct 17 2022

Pros:Nice staff, didn't pressure upsell the insurance like I was worried about. Drop off in the city center was not as easy as expected, due to the lack of parking instructions. Value was outstanding.Cons:Need to provide clear instructions that if you are dropping off at the lower Drumconda location, there are no parking spots in front of the office. You need to pull into a bus lane and park there, which isn't ideal, but workable.Reviewed Nov 22 2019

Pros:PriceCons:They try to rip you off on extra insurance. Concerned they’ve charged us extra. Have to keep an eye on what they actually charged. They did put a 5000€ hold on the card because we declined their insurance.Reviewed Oct 15 2019

Pros:Staff when doing the paperwork to pick-up the car more helpful & friendly. Staff at the actual car pickup lot less helpful & one a bit dismissive when you asked questions. Staff when dropping off the car a bit unfriendly & seemed a bit irritable.Cons:If you are going to Ireland, do your homework about what your personal auto insurance will cover (call them & let them know where you are going) & also call your credit card company to see if they have primary or secondary insurance when renting the car because many credit card companies don't thereReviewed Sep 28 2019

Pros:Picking up and dropping off from The terminal 2 station was very easy.Cons:You $5,000 hold on a card if you don't choose their insurance is ridiculous. the car was an automatic, but it felt like it was powered by hamsters.Reviewed Sep 3 2019

Pros:Pickup and drop off was easy.Cons:This company essentially forces you to purchase full insurance. We traveled to Ireland and rented a car for a few days. I put the rental car on my credit card, and they explained to me that if you don’t buy insurance they will put a 5,000€ hold on my card if I don’t buy insurance.Reviewed Aug 29 2019

Top tips for renting a car from Budget in Dublin

  • All of the branches offering Budget car hire in Dublin have similar fleets of vehicles that you can choose from. In Dublin, it's highly recommended that you choose an economy-sized car for inner city driving. Try to avoid the rush hours as much as you can. These are from 07:30 to 09:00 and again from around 16:00 to 18:30. The Liffey district gets especially gridlocked. It's also sound advice to avoid parking in on-street metered parking spaces, as this is expensive and wheel clamping is strictly enforced. Rather use a parkade.
  • The roads in the city are wide and modern, so you'll have no trouble using any kind of Budget car hire in Dublin suburbs. However, counter-intuitively, the roads on the outskirts of the city are narrower, with the exception of the motorways connecting Dublin to other major towns and cities in Ireland. So you're advised to choose a smaller car if you intend to go sightseeing in the surrounding areas of the city, rather than hiring something like an MPV, which simply won't fit on the roads.
  • To speed up the collection process when you arrive, especially if you've flown in and want to get out of the airport as soon as you can, use QuickPass when booking Budget car hire in Dublin. This is the brand's online platform where you can register and upload all the necessary documentation for hiring a car ahead of your arrival in Dublin. That way you won't have to go through the process at the collection desk at one of the central or airport agencies. Just show your photo ID and collect the keys.
  • The advantages of choosing Budget for hiring a car in Dublin include that the company's branches are easy to get to and located in prominent locations in and around the city. Some of them, like the airport branch, have extended collection hours to make it easier to collect your car as soon as you land. The ones in the centre of town are near to the major transport hubs, in case you first need to take public transport to get to one of them.
  • Economy rental cars from Budget in Dublin are around -34% cheaper than other car types, on average.

FAQs about renting a car from Budget in Dublin

  • Where is the best place to pick up my Budget hire car in Dublin?

You can collect your hire car at one of several Budget branches in Dublin. If you've flown in, there's a collection desk at Dublin Airport. It's in the Arrivals Hall and it's open from 05:00 till 23:59, seven days a week. The branch at 151 Lower Drumcondra Road, in the Drumcondra central district is open from 09:00 till 18:00, also daily. It's just over the bridge on the southside of the river from Dublin City University campus. You'll find another centrally located branch at 37 Old Kilmainham Road, Kilmainham, opposite the famous Irish Museum of Modern Art. It's open daily from 08:30 till 17:45.

  • What documents do I need to collect for my Budget hire car in Dublin?

The requirements for collecting your hire car at all the Budget collection agencies in the city are the same. You'll need to show your UK driver's licence, and if it was issued in England, Scotland or Wales, you'll also need your DVLA licence code. You may be asked to show a utility bill as proof of residence, so bring one along, just in case. Finally, you'll need a credit card as a means of payment, or to just show the one you used to book online if you did it that way.

  • What benefits does Budget offer in Dublin?

No matter whether you choose the Budget branch at Dublin Airport or one of those in the city centre, you'll enjoy the same high standards of vehicle maintenance and cleanliness. Every car is subjected to a full tyre and safety check as soon as it's returned. That extends to the finer details like checking the effectiveness of the windscreen wipers. This means a safer, more comfortable ride when you hire a car. You can choose the make and model of vehicle that you want – there aren't merely generic categories available.
