Cons:We paid additional for an suv which was not available. Instead they gave us an old small sedan with dings and scratches all over it. Would have gone with the cheaper rate had I known I would be getting such a poor vehicle.Reviewed Jan 18 2019

Wrong carPros:Prompt serviceCons:We paid for an SUV, and when we got to pick-up there were none left. We were given a golden Astra saloon car, which is not what I wanted and not what I paid for. The service assistant told me that as we had already paid, there was nothing he can do - which is unreasonable. He then said we could bring the car back half full, as compensation - when we dropped the car off there was no record of this and we were told we would be charged for the lack of fuel. I am unsatisfied with the whole experience of your company.Reviewed Jan 4 2018

ordered a standard got a small hatchbackPros:Fuel economy CleanlinessCons:Did not get the vehicle I ordered and had to put up with my husband complaining the whole trip about the car. What I paid was more than the hatch that I received but no refund. Quite a bit of damage on the vehicle.Reviewed Nov 30 2017

Top tips for renting a car from Alamo in Sydney

  • Book Alamo car hire in Sydney to take your visit to the next level and make sure you're in control of where you go and when. Alamo offers some of the best prices in the city, with no hidden fees and offers a great way to explore things in the city like Sydney Opera House and Bondi Beach without trying to figure out the local transport system and schedules. You also won't be paying high taxi fees to local drivers.
  • When you book Alamo car hire in Sydney, you'll be choosing one of the most reputable car hire companies in the city that's dedicated to offering the cheapest rates with the most value anywhere in the city. All Alamo vehicles are the latest models possible and come in various sizes and classes to suit everyone's needs. The company also provides services for disabled drivers, though you must inform them of your needs beforehand to make sure you get the help you need.
  • If you're flying into Sydney, Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport is the ideal place to collect your car hire from Alamo. Alamo operates from all three terminal buildings and if you make a booking online, you can save yourself some time and money when you arrive. If you're flying internationally, you'll be landing in Terminal 1. Make your way through the Baggage Claim area after collecting your luggage and follow the signposts to the Alamo counter. Hand over your documents and receive your keys.
  • Book Alamo car hire at the airport to avoid using public transport for the 15-minute trip to the city but make sure you include a GPS in your car hire. Driving around Sydney is relatively easy but can be confusing for first-timers, especially with the variety of one-ways in the city. Sydney is also a large city, which can be difficult to navigate. Having a GPS is a good way to make sure you know where you are at all times.
  • Mini rental cars from Alamo in Sydney are around -64% cheaper than other car types, on average.

To find Sydney Alamo car hire in the city, you'll have to book them through the offices at the airport. Alamo has car hire counters in all the terminals at the airport. If you're flying domestically, you'll be able to pick up your hire car in the Ground Level Car Park of the domestic terminal. Although it's not always easy to find parking in the CBD, there are various on-street and off-street parking options available. One of the most-used car parks operated by the city is Goulburn Street car park, which is open every day. You'll be given a ticket that you'll need to pay before leaving and the cost depends on how long you were there.
