The pickup wasn’t great. Some parts of the car didn’t work all the time, like the backup camera, Apple play and screen but were mostly good. Car drove well. Drop off was super easy too and the price was great. Overall a very good experienceReviewed Sep 21 2023

First time in Croatia and really appreciate Christian from the Dubrovnik Airport giving us advice on parking and driving in Croatia. It's quite difficult to find parking near the city centers, especially free, so definitely ask around. He also recommended that we get a bigger car with more horsepower because they drive quite fast on the highways, which was completely true. I needed a car rental with pick-up and drop-off in different cities. Sixt was able to accommodate that. I was a little weary at first because I have not rented cars from Sixt before. Once I made my reservation, I was sent an email with a booking number. But then I wanted to make date changes to my reservations, so I followed the link in the email, which took me directly to the Sixt website. I entered all the information accurately, but the site told me it could not find my reservation. Since I had made this about seven months in advance, I had time to try this over and over for months, with the same results. I tried to contact Sixt, but they don't make it easy to write in, and I didn't want to make an international call. I can't remember if I actually found a way to write them, but if I did, I never heard back. Finally, worried there would be no car for me, I just made a car rental reservation through a different company, which worked out great. About a week before date for the Sixt reservation came up, I got an email reminder. So then I tried again to log on to their site and this time it worked. I have no idea why it worked that time, but not previously -- I didn't do anything differently. But at least I was able to cancel this reservation.Reviewed Jul 5 2022

The pick up location was a short journey from the old town (about a 25 minute walk). The car was clean, ran well, and was what I had expected. My experience with Sixt was very tainted by an underhanded upsell. I had very clearly declined any additional coverage for the car, told the agent that I would not be taking the car on any ferries, and declined pre-paid fuel. I was charged for all of those. Unfortunately, the only upcharge I noticed before signing the paperwork was for the prepaid fuel and so I was on the hook for about 30% more than I had agreed to through Kayak.
