We reserved a car in my partners name and paid for it with a credit card in my name. But when we got there they would not allow us to have a car because the card name and the driver name had to match. And they couldn’t change the name on the reservation. So we had to cancel and do a new reservation which took quite a bit of time.

I was charged twice for this rental! I was charged by car rentals.com for pre payment at time of reservation and again at time of rental $527.27. Now they are both pointing the finger at each other as to who will do the right thing and refund me. I’m going to see if my CC company can help me

I liked selecting and booking my rental through the online services.

Cons:

I did not like that I could not make changes or that customer service stated they could not make changes and I had to call Fox or Priceline to make changes to the purchase. This could have been avoided if there was an option for the consumer to cancel or make changes just as easy as it is to the purchase.

There was confusion regarding the class of vehicle. We had a luxury class vehicle reserved and I believe we only got a premium class vehicle. We dropped the car at Las Vegas Airport instead of a hotel which was 3 miles from the airport. Enterprise wants to charge me another $300.00 drop off fee in addition to the original $400 for a one-way charge!

Unfortunately we started the self check in, but our connection wasn't great so we couldn't complete it. Upon arrival the employee finished the self check out for me. I'm sure he was trying to be helpful, but when we returned we had no idea what choice he made regarding fuel-we fill up or pay later. Turns out we could either pay $17/gallon or go back out and fill up. It all could have been avoided.

My experience with Avis was fine. But my experience with Kayak was not. When I searched for a car rental, I found a number of cars available for roughly $150 a day. Then there was the "manager's choice" car at Avis, which was listed at $155.54 -- total. I naturally booked that, and received an email that appeared to confirm that the total price was $155.54. As it turned out, that was false, and I wound up paying $518.42. I am not happy about that. My only gripe with Avis is that I wound up renting an electric car, but received no advice about where to charge it. I ultimately tried two charging stations, one of which was going to take 12 hours to charge, and was nowhere near where I was staying, and the other one of which was a "fast charge" station that could only charge one car at a time, and it was in use. So I was never able to charge the car.

Everything was super good, except at the pick up counter, there was very long lines, the wait time was around one hour, and 45 minutes, people in the line were complaining about the long wait, you definitely should get more staff to help with the long lines to get the wait time down

They offered me an “upgrade” for a way bigger car than I need. I told them we were only two people and didn’t need anything big. They kept misting on the upgrade. It was past midnight and I was very tired and just wanted to get to the hotel, otherwise I would have returned the car. Ended up spending too much money on gas too.

Everything could have been better! Avis was a total disappointment from the moment I picked up the car in Phoenix. I got charged more than I was quoted, I was given a smaller car. I had a death before driving back to El Paso. I needed to return the car in Tucson instead of El Paso and I was told I would be charged more. I was returning it on the right day, I offered to provide a death certificate and/or any other paperwork to help with the return at a different drop off. NOBODY was willing to help me!!!!!!!!! It was an unexpected death and I needed someone to help me. I was charged over $300 for one day. So sad that a company takes advantage of people in their time of need. NEVER WILL I RENT A CAR FROM AVIS!!!! WILL TELL ANYONE TO NEVER RENT ONE WITH THEM EITHER!!!! I HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED SO MANY RUDE, UNUSEFUL PEOPLE IN A COURSE OF 24 HOURS.

They had 1 person working and took about 15 minutes to check in each customer. The line was wrapped around the lobby. It took longer to fly than it did to wait in the line. We and others eventually had to leave without picking up our car. They probably do this on purpose. Do not rent from them even if the price looks right!!! Unless you have half a day to spare waiting in line.

Everything about this experience, aside from the employees assisting us, was absolutely abysmal. - The wait to check in was over an hour and the desk was terribly understaffed (a single person the entire time). - The wait to get to the vehicles was also over an hour, in a poorly organized area and combined with Budget and Avis rentals. Again, the team was terribly understaffed but competent, patient, and helpful. - The wait to have the vehicle checked (for what, I am still not sure) was unnecessary and could be consolidated when provisioning the vehicles or at the exit gate. - The wait to exit the garage was also unnecessarily long. As you just read, there were four separate lines that everyone was required to be a part of and limited staff to support an easily planned for influx in rentals. This was a failing of organization and planning on both the airport and Avis/Budget/Payless.

Pickup was a joke - had a 25 minute wait at counter and after completing the process sent downstair to actually get the car only to find that I and many were waiting because no cars were available. I rented a mid-sized SUV (Rav4) and was given a Mazda CX3 which could only fit two suitcases in rear after a 20 minute wait. Not the right class vehicle. Interior glass on windshield looked liked it hadn't been cleaned for months. Not a pleasant experience

Hard to say that I liked much. The rental was filthy, and even when we inquired, we were told it had been through a wash. It was also scratched just about every where you looked on the outside and driving it, I was scared for our safety. The SUV was shaking at around 60 mph but we had no choice but to keep going not to miss our flight at LAX. Wouldn't do this again with Budget.

I liked the SUV, but it was frustrating to find the correct center to find the budget center in Phoenix. Then there was no one to direct us carrying all our luggage and sent us to the wrong floor. We then stood in line for an hour to get to an agent to get our car assignment, and he sent us to the wrong part of Sky Harbor. An hour and one half later we got to the car rental level and there was no attendant to direct us to R-46. It is now 2:30 am and there is no attendant to direct us to the car location. Along with another customer who was looking for his car we walked 20 minutes in this HUGE rental center for all car rental companies. I bumped into 2 men who were talking and asked if he worked here. He said yes and I asked where R-46 was, and he pointed way down the row to the end> we found the spot but no car there. A couple minutes later he drove up with the Expedition. My wife is 75 and I am 79 and we arrived at airport 11:30 am and finally got on our way at 2:45 am..

The offer wasn’t clear that the agency is not at the airport. It took forever to get to their off site location. Once I made it there, the line to checkin was at least 30 people deep. They only had 3 employees working. After waiting 30 min, and the line only moved by 2 people, I took an Uber back to the airport. I lost the money that I prepaid to NU Car. Waste of money and time.

Horrible customer service at the desk. I felt lied to and they upsold me. Business was closed when I arrived on a late flight. They told me my class of car was not available. They knew I wouldn’t be in until after they closed and was told I shouldn’t have a problem and when I went in the next day they claim they didn’t have the class of car I asked for and I would have to pay more money: it got so frustrating I gave in. Stuck in a city with no money, kids and luggage, I was taken advantage of.

Dollar was closed. Waited 1.5 hours for Thrifty to process. Ended up with Thrifty getting us a Hertz car with over 50,000 miles. Over billed and settling problems with my credit card company. Tried to call customer support for Dollar. The wait on line was horrendous.

Waited in line an hour (at 10:pm) at the counter. Got my arm twisted to upgrade, but declined. Got the upgrade anyway, because they had no other cars. Received bill by email and full charge put on card, but I had already pre-paid part of the rental.

Pros:

Staff was nice.

Cons:

1) They didn't have the car I'd requested or anything similar. 2) Car was dirty. They used the same dirty rag to wipe windows (which were smeared and hard to see thru) Crumbs were not fully vacuumed. Seats had dirt spots that could easily have been wiped off. 3) POOR signs. There was an exit sign pointing me to drive over road spikes. They had a stop sign... This was apparently for employees to bring in cars. They should have had a "do not enter sign" as well as a gate to prevent the confusion. When I mistakenly drove over the spikes, it sounded like this happens OFTEN. :(

I asked now to have the coverage on the car as I already had insurance to cover me for collision and theft. They didn’t remove it from my fees and customer service said they couldn’t take it off since it was already finalized.

Cons:

They did not have a vehicle for me when I got there. They upgraded my car for free, but then as I was filing out paperwork, being told, “We have someone watching your car,” another customer walked up and took it. We eventually got a vehicle, but wasn’t super impressed.

Everything else was good.

Cons:

The lighting was so bad in the underground pick-up "choose a car" area that I felt I was choosing a car by braille. As it happened, I chose a vehicle with damage to the bumper area--which was not stated in my copy of the rental agreement. When I turned the car back in they said that I would be charged for it unless their cameras recorded the pre-existing damage. What a relief to eventually be proven "not guilty"!

I did not clearly understand who the company is, what their name is and where they are located. I never received a confirmation from Kayak. I did not know the hours of operation. They were closed by the time I was able to figure out who and where they are located. I needed to rent from another company. Not a good experience.

Never picked up the car. I couldn’t provide one item of information they requested as I couldn’t find the link to provide an insurance deposit even though I am fully insured and provided the policy information . I asked for a phone call so as to provide the credit card information , but they didn’t respond.

Lack of communication. Lack of shuttle information to car. Car location information not great.. searched for certain days- CarWiz added a day I didn’t need. Texted to change when I saw reservation was messed up and of course they never took the day off and I finally just paid it- not worth the hassle. Lots of issues. Janky. Great price but not great experience. Car not clean.

I was sent a text, from a phone number with no identification attached, the evening before I was supposed to pick up the car. Between packing and leaving extremely early for the airport, and then being in airplanes, I didn’t see or respond to the text. Because of that they didn’t have a car available for me when I arrived. This was an off-site parking garage pickup not leaving me with many options. The mix up I could have understood but rudeness of the staff was unbelievable. DO NOT rent from this company.

The gentleman that checked us in was very nice, check out was smooth and quick

Cons:

The line was extremely long, 2 member behind the counter for at least 20 people waiting. There was another employee there not helping customers check in. I'm not exactly sure what she was doing. Once a 3rd member came to the counter things moved much faster.

They didn't have my car for me at 6:00am when it was reserved. They told me to sit and wait for 2 hours because staff went home sick. I went next door to Enterprise and they helped me right out.

Pros:

At the car pick up place I noticed that the mystery vehicle I was rented seated 7 passengrs, way too big for me, one person. The car check out person did exchange the vehicle for a small sedan which was perfect. All vehicles were new, clean, and this part of the rental was easy.

Cons:

I waited in line for a full hour, standing in line with thirty other people, to get to the counter to rent my vehicle. This was inexcusable. There were two customer service people behind the counter and it took about 10 full minutes per person to check out a car. This was after several hours of travel and I was anxious to get out of the airport and to my condo in the Phoenix area. Incidentally, my check out person had a cold and kept wiping his nose with his hand. Am wondering if he was contagious. You really need to hire more Advantage/E-Z Rental customer service agents to service the renters. Everyone in line was complaining about the wait and I did mention it to my agent who basically did not reply.

Car was new and nice. Price was competitive.

Cons:

After a long flight the last thing you want to do is wait for a car. We had to wait in line for about 45 minutes and they ran out of cars right after we got ours. Can you imagine landing, waiting in line for 45 minutes and then being told, sorry, I know you have a reservation but we can't honor it. That happened to about twenty people that I saw.

Pros:

We somehow got a special price on this rental, that being said, the service from staff, pick up, drop off and shuttle to and from the air were all first class. Very high tech coordination with the car unlocking when we got to the rental center. Included were satellite radio, navigation and surprisingly gas mileage over 40 mpg on the highway. This is a great rental opportunity for many.

Cons:

There was the fact that the car was an Audi Quattro, so smaller than I would normally rent, compared to my Ford Edge, but I cannot complain about anything.
