When presented my credit card with collision coverage, Europcar staff told me that to make it valid I needed to have a letter of proof of insurance signed/stamped by some kind of Mexican authority.... really?? Chetumal is a small airport and the pick up drop off is convenient and easy.Cons:
Be aware of insurance requirements in Mexico. If you have a credit card that provides rental car insurance they will require a letter for confirmation from credit card company. If you do not have a letter they will not rent you the car without purchasing insurance. The cost of insurance depends on the value of the car and is minimum $200 USD. They do not indicate that in the listing or the general terms. You have to go deep into the T&C to find that.Fox
