Renting a car is the perfect option for those wanting to explore not only Johannesburg, but also other major destinations across South Africa. Public transportation is often crowded and unreliable, and it is more cost-efficient to self-drive to some attractions rather than take tours. Rent a car and visit the many UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as the Cradle of Humankind, or embark on a longer road trip and cross over the border to Botswana for a self-led safari.
All the major car hire companies can be found at Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport (JNB), which is just over 12 miles from the city center. The car hire desks are located to the left side as you enter the parking lot’s ground floor, just opposite Domestic Arrivals. Avis is open 24 hours. When driving out of the airport, you’ll find many “spaghetti” junctions, so, if you don’t know the area, make sure to ask for a GPS device when renting the car.
The first thing you need to know when driving in Johannesburg is that traffic runs on the left side of the road. I didn't have to wait long, the car was already there and clean and bringing the car back was excellent, a gentleman was there when I dropped the car and they did their check and quickly I was on my way as my pickup was already there, that was very professional. No hidden costs on charges and the fact that the gadget for tolls was also very functional, it many my journey easy, I will recommend Europcar to my family and friends, actually I have already done so and I will use it next time I need to hire a car

The attendant at the counter refused to let me have the vehicle at the price confirmed in my e mail. She alleged that I needed a foreign passport to get that rate , as she insisted that was the T’s&C’s . After a lengthy debate about the issue wherein I showed her that nowhere was such T&c indicated, I had to call for senior management to intervene. I was significantly delayed late at night .

I experienced a great deal of inconvenience which actually felt a bit dodgy( almost like some kin of fraud). I was given the card machine to swipe for the total funds charged for the rental and the deposit. The amount was properly displayed on the screen and i swiped for it. However , to my surprise as i was still standing there another separate amount with a different figure came out of my account with ref from budget. I immediately queried with the consultant and he said something like 'the system withheld for itself some funds" . This was obviously very confusing to me. How does a system withhold funds from my account? how did these funds get our of my account without me authorising it? This is the reason i say it seems rather fraudulent. I had to escalate the matter to saps and had the issue resolved two days later- This was a big inconvenience over things that they themselves could not even explain- I am still very much unsettled by the lack of explanation to what cased this so-called system error. This experience rendered me to not trust Budget again or refer their services.

Hertz classifies the Rav 4 and the Corolla Cross in the same class. So you think you are getting more for your money, but you aren't. Also you have to read the small print. The deposit that you have to leave if you useyour own insurance was so big that I had to buy their insurance so the hire cost me 50% more than I budgeted.

My flight was delayed and I couldn’t get ahold of anyone to change my reservation. When I made it to my destination I was told it was canceled and twice as much to rebook.
