Insurance is ~$100 / day. I don't know if car rental companies have substantial differences in their insurance pricing. Still, seems worth it to get after insurance price when choosing a car rental company. Car had 1 power port. If you want more, bring a cigarette lighter that provides two USB ports. Car had 20,000 miles. Never heard of the brand. With an ignition key. Took about a minute of jiggle to turn the ignition key to star the car. No backup camera. Your expectations of cars may not be met from the developed world.

Everything went very well. Took a little adjusting to driving on opposite side of road. Biggest adjustment was not turning on windshield wipers when I was trying to use the turn signal. Also, speed limit signs are in MPH, not KPH. Signage and advise related to round-abouts at the Dollar/Thrifty office was very helpful.

We rented a small hatch back Picanto. Easy on fuel, drove all over the island multiple times still had a quarter tank left and only needed just over 5 gallons to fill. Driving was instant immersion from the airport office. If you have not driven on the left side before it would be quite daunting but since I had done so for years in the past, it was a good shock back to the left side. Round abouts and give ways are challenging to the tourists especially when busy. All in all easy to get around on the island. So you definitely need to be cautious if you are new to the left side driving.

As a U.S. based insurance professional, I recommend the purchase of the Collision/Damage waiver AND the third party LIABILITY insurance! Relatively cheap for the coverage provided. Your U.S. policy will NOT cover you in Cayman, and your credit card coverage will be VERY limited, secondary/excess and completely inadequate if something goes wrong.

Gave me a hatchback. 75% of the times I turned the key in the ignition to start the car, it took repeated random effort of wheel turning and key turning to turn the key in the ignition and start the car. Took more than a minute sometimes. I assumed it was going to strand me. Left voicemail at the phone number on my contract. No response for two days.

We booked a compact and they gave us an economy without compensation. A blonde female employee remarked our luggage was not going to fit in the economy car and tried to upsell us to a van. Of course, it would have fit in the card we reserved months ahead of he trip. They didn’t have luggage carts at drop off and the blonde female employee didn’t help, just said it was too bad. There is no effort to help customers. They have no maps. It was an unpleasant interaction all around.

The agent at pick up used shady language to try to make us think that the insurance we had bought online with kayak at the time of bookingwas not real and that we had been ripped off and that we really should only buy it from budget. She made it seem as if we did not have the insurance at all. She was snarky, bordering on rude. Another agent came along and in plain language just said they wouldn't have record of it there at the counter if we did buy insurance through the third-party, in this case kayak. That is a whole lot different than we didn't have insurance even though we paid for it and we were ripped off. I was very unhappy with her. Shadier and shadier every time we go to rent a car anymore.

Great people. Lyndell and others were awesome people to deal with. Got a complimentary upgrade from a Toyota Camry to a Chinese-made SUV that provided a little more room for luggage …allowing for 4 large pieces of luggage and 4 people. Right next to airport and easy walking distance, too.

Pickup and drop off can be a bit chaotic, but on Saturdays especially there are a lot of cars being turned around in a short period of time. Best to get your mind into “island time” before entering the rental building. We got a flat tire during our rental and team took care of it with no complaints and dropped off a new rental car to our condo - great service.

Excellent experience and a great way to start and end your trip with friendly, helpful people. Easy going, fair, seamless process, and informative it doesn't get much better than that. The car was clean and operated as intended.

They promised me total CAD $ 166.00 to rent a car. Now I see you charged my credit card CAD& 345.41 It is fraud!

Our car was in pretty sketchy condition. The front bumper scraped on everything. The first time we went to unlock it in a parking lot, the key got stuck and we had to wait for them to send out a locksmith. We were told “this happens all the time” and were instructed to just avoid locking it for the rest of our trip. ?! Although the staff was nice and responsive, I’m not satisfied with that resolution.
