There are two buses you can catch, both of which take just under 25 min to make the journey. The first goes via 2nd Street and Central Avenue, leaving you with about a 7 min walk to the hotel. The other stops at the corner of 1st Street and Lemon Avenue, which is roughly a 5 min walk from the hotel. Both trips cost about $1-2 (around £0.80-1.60). If you've brought too much luggage to comfortably walk, you can hire a car through KAYAK or catch a taxi. The latter takes about 8 min and will cost between $16 and $20 (roughly £13-16).

Aloft Sarasota will indeed make a very good choice of hotel if you're travelling on business. It has a comprehensive business centre that can accommodate up to 120 people, as well as smaller individual workspaces. W XYZ Bar offers snacks and drinks during the day and becomes a live music venue at night, where you can enjoy craft cocktails while listening to acoustic performances. If you want more substantial meals, Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse is a short walk away.

Although this is a chic boutique hotel, the rates are reasonable. You could book the more luxurious Super Queen or Super King rooms, but the basic Aloft King Room has lots of space and plenty of amenities. The king-size bed comes with luxury linen, and the rooms have ergonomic seating areas plus a desk area. Entertainment comes as a selection of premium movie, satellite and cable channels. There's also a coffee machine, a safe and a mini fridge.
