Pros (+) The renovated rooms were very nice, however, they had been recently painted and the fumes were overwhelming, so I was transferred to one of the older, non-renovated rooms. Although the bed and furnishings were new (sheets, pillows and wall mounted TV, the walls (paint and plaster) and carpet were what you would expect in a no-tell motel. Cons (-) It was a 5 story walk-up building - no elevator. After looking at 2 rooms (one without a window! and both freshly painted/smelly) we were transferred to the 5th floor and it was a struggle getting the luggage up the 4 flights of stairs (main floor/1st floor). Pros (+) It was one block from where we needed to go the most often. My husbands favorite coffee place was next door. (Petite abelle). The staff was friendly and helpful. And the room was newly renovated with high ceilings and a very pretty contemporary style. The bed was comfortable.
Cons (-) Some rooms in this place have a shared bathroom. I booked one with a private. Still this seems to be a common thing in nyc so be careful when booking. We stayed in room 207 which was newly renovated. The only thing lacking was individual temp control, which we fixed with a space heater. A refrigerator and microwave would have been nice too.
