If the Treasure Island Hotel were a motel I would rate them higher. But, my expectations for a hotel are much higher. Let’s start with the good. The room was clean. When we asked for extra pillows, it was taken care of immediately. We had fresh towels daily and hot water. Staff was friendly and helpful. Now the not so good. Starbucks has two locations onsite. Travelled with family; reached about 3 hours before the check-in time and they asked $40 extra for early check-in. Such a big resort with hundreds of available rooms in non-peak season, it was sad to see they asking $40 extra for 3 hour early check-in.
Treasure Island was excellent. The room was large and very well maintained. I also liked the casino and the location on The Strip can't be beat. The only complaint I had was the long wait to check in. Two people working check in with over 20 people in line is ridiculous. No valid excuse for letting it happen. My non-smoking room smelled of smoke. So did my friends’ room one floor down. Dates interiors. Lack of amenities, including a bottle of water in the room, was problematic considering the mandatory resort fee, which apparently didn’t even pay for pool access. The room I stayed in didn’t have a refrigerator. The food at the coffee shop was horrible and the server I had there was even worse. I ordered and she got it wrong…. It was a bagel!!! And the menu said mixed green salad……. It was a salad in a bag. The total for a bagel and club soda was $11.00. Ouch!!! My tv didn’t work for an entire day. Pros (+) Location was awesome. The staff was friendly. I liked the hours everything inside the hotel stayed open.
Cons (-) One issue: the check in process. I’m pretty sure they knew a lot of people were coming Friday evening, so why not have more staff at the counters to help? We waited 2 hours just to check in. There were only 4 people doing all the checking in and there are like 22 windows. They could have even opened the self check in machines just to make the process easier.
