Only good things! End of the 19th century building, with very nice architecture, an amazing pool on the top, with view over the city of Funchal and surroundings (huge mountains and lots of nature). Very familiar ambience, nice staff, super soft bed and a really good cleaning service (woke up past 1pm several times and when back everything was tidy and clean). It has a little bar, and a bouncing bench on the outside, again with amazing view. It almost looked like we were the only ones there and that was really nice! Felt like was living in a "chateau" kind of place. It's in the centre of Funchal. Five minutes walk and you're in downtown. And going back up it's great to burn all those calories you've gained with the amazing traditional food!

staff were very friendly and helpful, they went out of their way to help us, helped to make our stay that more enjoyable, recommended good restuarants etc.
the hill we had to climb to get back to it.

A quirky hotel with character - our room had an excellent view over funchal - the harbour and bay - the staff were friendly and helpful.
The hot water was never hot - only warm.
